TELEPHONE & INTERNET SAVING
Did you know that there is a number for directory assistance that is FREE?
Telstra do not advertise this number though.
It is 1223 as opposed to 12455 which is charged at 25 cents per call.
1223 is exactly the same service and there is no charge.
Apparently under Government law, Telstra is obligated to provide a free
directory assistance service hence the number 1223.

I have my phone blocked for long distance and mobile calls. I find that
by using prepaid cards such as Apple or Banana there are no nasty huge
phone bills. These cards can work out a lot more economical than the
rates charged by the telcos as well. Just check when buying that they
can be used for domestic as well as overseas calls.

Take advantage of internet and phone packages like through optus where
you get 100 free local calls.

Ring your phone providers and ask for a better plan to suit your needs. I
did this and saved about $5 a month.

Every time you contact a company for any reason, ask for their free call
number and note it in your address book for future use. Energex have one,
so do most large companies.
