HEATHER IS TRASHED
After a week of extreme makeovers, girls passing out, tears by the bucketful and fears being faced, it is homesick Heather , the 18-year-old customer service representative from Moreno Valley, California, who is cut from AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL. Even though Xiomara , the 25-year-old bartender from Morganville, New Jersey, let the attention showered on another girl ruin her photo shoot, it was Heather's youthful "teen" look combined with her lack of intensity on photo shoots that got her booted from the show.

DOUBTS AND FEARS
After almost being cut last week, Shandi , the 21-year-old Walgreen's clerk from Kansas City, Missouri, is still upset over her terrible walk in front of the judges. "If I truly want this, I'm going to need to do better. I need to try harder." The girls all watch as Shandi practices on the runway in the apartment. Catie , the 18-year-old wire stripper from Willmar, Minnesota, who won the runway contest last week, gets up on the runway to strut her stuff. Heather watches from the sidelines, and later explains, "Everyone is trying to get the spotlight here and they aren't very social with me." She tells us she feels very alone in the house. "I feel like I'm in hell," Heather informs her mom on the phone. "I'm only 18 years old and I've never been away from home," she says with tears in her eyes.

NOT YOUR ORDINARY MAKEOVER
The next day, the girls are taken to the Warren Tricomi Salon, where they are greeted by Tyra, Jay Manuel and the owners of the salon, Edward Tricomi and Joel Warren. "They are going to take you from ordinary to extraordinary," Tyra tells them. The girls learn that they will be getting a new look complete with a new hairstyle, a make-up lesson from Jay Manuel, a manicure and teeth whitening. Catie excitedly says, "This is a once in a lifetime thing. I'm not going to care what they do with my hair."

"This is just not an ordinary makeover. I'm taking it to the next level!" Tyra proclaims as she lets each girl know what is going to be done to her. Tyra says Catie reminds her of "Twiggy," so they are chopping her hair off. Sara , the 22-year-old hostess from Seattle, Washington, is becoming a blonde. Yoanna , the 23-year-old babysitter from Jacksonville, Florida, is getting a modern Mohawk. Hair extensions are in store for Mercedes , the 22-year-old waitress from Valencia, California, to make her more animalistic. Jenascia , the 21-year-old waitress from Burien, Washington, is getting a haircut to match her height--short! Xiomara is becoming wavy and wild. April , the 23-year-old corporate business account manager from Miami Beach, Florida, will soon have bangs, and Camille , the 25-year-old student from Mamaroneck, New York, is getting her braids taken out. Shandi, whose hairstyle reminds Tyra that Shandi is "stocking the shelf at Walgreen's," is getting contacts and platinum blonde hair. The blonde-haired Heather is upset that her transformation will only involve becoming a little more blonde.

The girls are all chopped, steamed, colored, extended and dyed as they start to transform into their new look. While they are doing this, Jay Manuel shows them the proper way to apply make-up and get that "smoky eye" look. Camille gets her braids out and her "hoochie nails" taken off. She feels sexier and lighter in her new sleek look. Shandi, now a blonde, is amazed at how white her teeth are after she lightens them.

"Catie is obviously 18 and sometimes she can be a bit more sophomoric than the rest of us," Yoanna tells us after Catie starts to complain about her "boy" haircut. Her hair is drastically shorter than it was before, and Catie breaks down in tears. Tyra comes over to comfort her, telling her it'll be fine once they style it. "You have to trust me," Tyra hugs and tells her. Heather is concerned that her hair didn't change enough and the judges might be upset and wonder if she is versatile.

BEAT YOUR FACE
"Yoanna I think is different than everyone else. I feel like she is the only person who actually cares," a lonely Heather explains later. When Tyra Mail arrives, the girls are told that they will need to "beat your face and beat the clock." They are taken to a studio where Jay Manuel, the make-up artist, is waiting for them. He informs them that they will have 15 minutes to use what he taught them the day before to create the perfect "smoky eye," which is pictured on the wall. There is a catch: there is only one mirror, one make-up palette and one set of brushes for all ten girls. He tells them this is reminiscent of what a fashion show might be like for "last minute top model diva arrivals."

The girl who gets closest to the perfect "smoky eye" in the allotted time wins a dinner that night at the loft with three mystery guests. The losers have to shop for, cook and serve the dinner. Also judging this contest is Julie Redfern from Sephora. Jay reminds the girls that this isn't a sorority but a contest.

Jay counts down and the clock starts. "Surprise, surprise, Cruella Deville steals the mirror," Yoanna says in reference to the fact that Camille rushed the mirror and got in the way of everyone else. The battle is on as the girls frantically try to do their eyes. Shandi is off to the side by a hot light bulb. "I'm hot, I'm hot," she says to the girls as she keeps getting shoved into the light.

IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE HEAT
April, who only bought her first tube of mascara a day ago, really impresses Jay. Shandi looks a little too glamorous. Yoanna is told she has done a really good job and looks a lot like the picture. Camille still has a crease that she was warned about. The judges take a step back to deliberate. When Jay comes back, he tells them, "None of (you) got it." But, overall, he chooses Yoanna as the girl who came the closest. Yoanna is ecstatic and is told she gets to take three girls to the dinner with her. She quickly chooses Sara and Xiomara. The third choice she has to think about a second. She starts to point to Heather, but then decides on taking April. Heather is very hurt because she thought she "was closer to her than some of the other girls." Heather says that she learned that "no one is going to be there for you."

Meanwhile, Shandi says she is sweating and overheated before she falls to the ground and passes out. The girls rush over to her and try to aid her. "I've never gotten so hot to the point where I was just dizzy and nauseous and I couldn't breathe," Shandi recalls. Yoanna realizes Shandi's blood sugar is low and runs and gets her some peanut butter. Shandi slowly gets back up and realizes she needs to start taking better care of herself and never let it happen again.

FOOD FIT FOR MODELS
"I am jazzed that Camille is going to, you know, cook a meal for myself and my guests. I think it might do her some good," Yoanna tells us as she prepares to enjoy her prize. The mystery guests arrive. They are the male models from the very first photo shoot . The girls at the dinner are very happy to have some male companionship.

In the kitchen, the other girls are slaving away cooking for Yoanna and her guests. Camille gets quite upset when Catie takes her personal tomatoes and lettuce. Heather, who feels that she should be at the table eating instead of serving, is upset that Yoanna doesn't even acknowledge the servers when they bring them out the food. She needs someone to talk to and pulls Catie aside to talk to her. She feels that she finally has someone to talk to about her frustrations with the house.

THE FEAR OF PHOTO SHOOTS
The girls get Tyra Mail, and it informs them that the next photo shoot will test their fears and phobias. "I think fear is a complete waste of emotion and time," Catie says. The girls are taken to a spooky, deserted industrial complex where they follow arrows painted on the ground into a building where they ascend to the top level. In the floor, there are huge holes. Catie tells us that this scares her because her fear is falling to her death.

"Top models travel all over the world to exotic locations and weird locations just like this," Jay Manuel tells them. They are going to create an action fashion spread wearing designs from LAUNDRY by Shelli Segal. There is a twist, though: they will be suspended from a ledge and photographed hanging over the hole. Catie is quite scared and tells us she doesn't want to fall to her death. Richard Dean will do the shoot.

"I'm scared of heights, Dad. I wish you could be here," Catie cries as she talks to her dad on the phone. April is first up and jumps out. Richard Dean is impressed because she seems as if she has no fear. "Shandi, she gave a tremendous range of looks. Very subtle, but different," Richard says after shooting Shandi. Being suspended proves hard for many of the girls as they struggle to balance themselves and try to get positioned for a great photo.

All of the make-up and outfits are very modern. Heather has dark eyes and a white and black striped mod dress on. Jenascia is dolled up in a vibrant red dress with feathers in her eyes. Camille's hair is put up and red feathers are added.

While the girls are up being shot, Catie is still pondering whether she can do the shoot. Xiomara offers to go before Catie in order to encourage her. "I am petrified, but I can't show it because Catie is on set," Xiomara tells us as she starts to be suspended from the ledge. "I had no attention during my shoot. Something else was going on and I didn't get any love basically. But, I understand that Jay had to talk to Catie," Xiomara notes. Jay does have to spend a lot of time with a crying Catie.

With tears in her eyes, Catie agrees to be suspended in air for the shoot. She is hung out on the ledge and thinks she needs to just "suck it up." After only a few shots, Jay tells Catie that they got it and she is brought back in to the cheers and applause of the other girls.

TIME TO BE JUDGED

The judges for this week are Tyra Banks , Janice Dickinson , Eric Nicholson , Nigel Barker and guest judge Jay Manuel . The girls are told there will be a make-up test. They will have to recreate a specific look reminiscent of a specific era: 50s glamour, 60s mod, 80s punk, a Goth look or a futuristic look. There will be no reference photos, so it will be up to the girls to define their look.

Shandi comes up first with an all out Goth look. Janice calls her look "fierce" and Jay compliments her because she committed to it. Mercedes, who goes for futuristic, needs to pretty herself more. Sara gets high marks on her 80s hairstyle. Camille comes forward with her attempt at a futuristic look. Janice calls her look "LSD make-up." Camille's make-up has two symbols painted on her cheeks and Nigel thinks it is a little to Halloween for him. Xiomara, whose attempt at Goth doesn't go over too well with the judges, is told that her choice should have had no boundaries

Shandi's photo reminds the judges of "A Clockwork Orange." Tyra thinks it could definitely be in a high fashion magazine. Heather is told that she needs more intensity in her photos. Jay tells her she needs to be more conscious of her face. Tyra tells Jenascia that her photo is one of her favorites so far. Tyra thinks that April's picture is "dope."

When Xiomara gets critiqued on her photo, she is told that it looks sloppy. Xiomara pipes up and says, "I didn't really have much direction in all due honestly and fairness to you because (Jay) was comforting Catie." The judges aren't buying her excuse and tell her that if that happens, she needs to speak up and think about herself.

When it is Catie's turn, she quickly refutes Xiomara's excuse by saying Jay "was sitting next to me for most of the part. The entire time he never said a word to me. He was directing Xiomara." Janice cuts off the argument by saying she just wants to see the picture. Catie's photo gets high marks and Janice calls it fabulous, and Tyra calls it one of the strongest pictures.

DELIBERATIONS
In the private deliberations, Janice is afraid that Catie is having meltdowns on every given opportunity. Xiomara's picture bothers the judges, and they call it the weakest of the bunch. The judges are amazed at Shandi's transformation, but Eric thinks she still looks a little meek. Yoanna is absolutely beautiful to the judges but needs to work on her body. April is Janice's favorite but feels too clinical to Jay. When it comes to Heather, Jay says that he had to work really hard to get any sort of expression out of her and in his mind she is out. Jenascia is still too short for Janice. Eric tries to defend her saying that Kate Moss set the standard, but Nigel is quick to point out that she is not Kate Moss.

WHO CONTINUES THE JOURNEY?
After the judges are brought back in, Tyra tells them that she only has nine photos for the 10 girls. Tyra distributes the photos, and Xiomara and Heather are left empty handed.

Heather is told that the judges feel she looks too teen. The judges aren't sure if it is because she is 18 or that it is just her look. When it comes to Xiomara, the judges don't understand how she could let the attention that another girl was getting ruin her chances. They feel it was her worst week. With that, Tyra asks Xiomara to stay. She breaks down in tears, and even Tyra gets a little teary eyed.

Heather is just "stunned and shocked." She is still strong and says she isn't going to let this bring her down. "Someone else will like me. One man's trash is another man's treasure," she says as she packs her bags and heads home.
