Orion Bus Industries 05.501 CNG (9370-9394) As part of a demonstration program by the MTO of Natural Gas buses the TTC received 25 from the Ministry. Orion Bus Industries in Mississauga delivered 25 of these to the TTC in 1990 the first Orion Bus Industries 05.501 in the TTC fleet. Surely they looked different from most of the TTC fleet with the overhead Compressed Natural Gas tanks. With the delivery of these buses came the decision by the TTC to build a fuelling station at the Wilson complex. As of today these buses tend to be the most reliable Orion model the TTC has. Only a few problems have occurred with these buses like the retrofitting of the ZF transmissions to Allison transmissions and the replacement of the old EDO CNG fuel tanks to a newer fuel tank because of reported leaks. |
