There are a number of options available to pet owners these days for heartworm control. Because the heartworm parasite is transmitted by mosquitos, heartworms are particularly prevalent in the Southeastern United States. Even indoor dogs and cats are susceptible.

Many preventatives combine heartworm protection with hookworm, roundworm, and/or whipworm defeating agents as well. All of these parasites are found in the Southeast with alarming frequency, even in the healthiest of companion animals. Your pet needs year-round protection.
