A PASSION FOR SOULS

Reverend Donald O'Keefe

May 2008 (Articles posted monthly)

In the fourth chapter of the book of John, Jesus while passing through the city of Samaria, came to a well of water. As he sat upon the well to rest himself, a women came to draw water. Jesus told her, "whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst again: but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

His disciples had gone into town to buy food to eat, and on their return they prayed to him saying, master eat. But He said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. The disciples did not understand what he meant.

They thought that he was talking about food, but he wasn't. So, Jesus explained what meat he was talking about. He said my meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. Jesus was tired and hungry, but his passion for souls caused him to reach out for the soul of a sinful Samaritan woman.

The meat that sustained Jesus was not natural food for the belly. His meat was to do the will of God in reaching the whitened harvest fields of a lost world. Jesus's meat was a passion for souls. He was so taken up with his passion for souls that his hunger for natural food was secondary.

Lift up your eyes and look upon the whitened harvest field and know that harvest time is now today. We are not talking about whitened field of wheat, but the harvest of eternal never dying souls. Over 6,000,000,000 people need the saving grace of Jesus Christ obtained through the message of Acts 2:38.

IS THERE A SAMARITAN WOMAN IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD? IS THERE A SAMARITAN MAN IN YOUR WORK PLACE? ARE THERE SAMARITANS WHERE YOU SHOP? IT IS HARVEST TIME NOW. PLEASE, CARE ABOUT THE WHITENED HARVEST FIELDS. PLEASE, HAVE A PASSION FOR SOULS. BE GOD'S INSTRUMENT FOR REVIVAL.
