McCreary hosts many different activities for people of all tastes.
                                





                                 

                                








 







CURLING ARENA - Three sheets of artificial ice provide an assured season of curling, which regularly extends from October to March. The lower lobby includes food concession, viewing, and washrooms.  The upper level contains a social area plus a superb view of the ice surface. Schedules range from 3 - 5 nights weekly. Curling plus bonspiels are available at reasonable fees to members of the community at large.

TENNIS - One court, with three nets, is available for public use at the McCreary School. This outdoor facility sees daytime use with the school program.

BASEBALL - Players have a choice of three diamonds at the Fair grounds, positioned within the half-mile standard racetrack, as well as the use of the school grounds.

HORSE RACING, CHUCKWAGON, CHARIOT RACING and HORSE SHOW participants and spectators have washrooms, bleacher seating, an elevated address booth, and food concessions available at two locations on the Fair Grounds adjacent to the racetrack.  Exercise paddocks and stabling for 80 animals with parking space and services for exhibitors meets the needs of area horse club activities.

SLEIGH RIDES and hay rides are available by appointment and summer and winter TRAIL RIDES are scheduled through Pony Club activities.

SWIMMING POOL offers lessons through 13 levels of swim ability supervised by a staff of seven from June to September. Aquasize and family swim times are part of the schedule. Public fees are reasonable and swim time is unlimited.







ALPINE SKIING - Mount Agassiz Ski site, 15 km from the village, has the highest vertical drop between the Rockies and Thunder Bay. 2 T-bars, one double chair lift and 1 tow rope, equipment rental, Can Ski Patrol and CSIA certified instructors serve skiers from novice to professional. Lessons (private or group) are available. A day chalet and restaurant and licensed lounge are available at the center located at the base of the runs, (an excellent place to view skiers as the come down the hill.) A snowboard park with equipment rental is on site. The ski hill is for sale, so in the meantime it is not open.


TOBOGGANING
- McCreary has a brand new toboggan run located at Fletcher Park Campground.

SNOWMOBILE CLUB - The Riding Mountain Snow Drifters, 41 members and growing. Started in 1998. Trails have been maintained and they've recently purchased a warming shelter along one of their trails. Poker derbies are held frequently throughout the winter months.

Riding Mountain National Park has miles of trails, which are groomed
CROSS COUNTRY SKI trails in winter, and HIKING trails in the summer. Miles of open municipal roadsides are also utilized by Cross Country Skiers and SNOWMOBILERS.

McCreary abounds in cultural and athletic participation and facilities.  The presence of a Recreation Director and an Arts Council promotes, coordinates and enhances activities. School programs fully utilize facilities.
SKATING ARENA - Artificial ice assures a lengthy and certain season. With an 80 x 180 foot ice surface, McCreary is home to MAHA Hockey teams from age 7 and under to Adult. Fun Skate lessons are available for all age groups. Family skating scheduled times are avaialble. BROOMBALL teams are also a part of the regular schedule. Dressing rooms, washrooms, bleachers, heated lobby seating area and food concession make the arena a one-stop sports centre. It is available for rental. Click here for rink schedule.
