III. THE FACTS AND FIGURES

1988 was the year that signified the horrific drop in the production of Firebirds, and especially Trans Ams.  Production numbers of all Pontiac f-bodys that year were down 30% from the previous year.  Plain firebird numbers were down 32% from the previous year, and Trans Am numbers were down a whopping 60% from the previous year.  From then on, the Trans am production dropped continuously from 8,790 in 1988, to 5,701 in 1989, to 1,056 in 1990, then up to 3,452 in 1991, and then back down 62% from the previous year to only 969 Trans Ams in 1992.
