The first meeting will be on

Webmaster's note: the following was written by George Vines, who is a WWII Veteran. He is the acting Chairman and his southern address is 449 Linkside, Sandestin, Destin. He will arrive in early November and can be reached at 850-650-9083. This group is open to anyone who has served in any of the Allied Armed Forces in any war. If you are not a veteran, but would like to attend, you can attend, but you may not participate in the discussions or ask any questions. This is out of respect for those who have served.

For several weeks at the end of the 2002 snowbird season, we were promoting a "World War II Veteran's group, Americans and Canadians, where we would informally sit around and talk about our individual experiences in "The War that was part of Tom Brokaw"s "The Greatest Generation".

We signed up approximately 20 veterans and had two sessions near the end of our stay. At one of the meetings, I discussed my visit to the World War II memorial Museum, which had just opened in New Orleans, La. Others talked about their experiences in WWII in all branches of Military Service. Our purpose was to keep alive the individual experiences of the members. The format was very casual but each member who had a short story requested recognition and spoke briefly. All military branches including Canadian participants took part.At one of the meetings we were fortunate to have the author of "The Boy Soldier" book take part and speak.

My personal experiences were as an officer in the Airforce  in the South Pacific from New Guinea up the coast thru Manila and Okinawa into Japan.

In view of the startling revelation that WWII veterans are dying off rapidly, we can preserve  the veterans experiences for posterity.

As more information is available, it will be posted here. Anyone wishing to have a link to a particular website pertaining to these wars should contact the Webmaster
