Our Cat Story

My mother-in-law's dog had been put to sleep in August of 1997. Around Christmas, Tom (my husband), thought that it would be a good idea to get his mother a cat for Christmas. His reasoning was that cats are pretty self-sufficient, and they don't require much maintenance, like walking, bathing, etc, and his mother wasn't able to do those things anyway. So, three weeks before Christmas, on a Friday, Tom comes home with a nine week old gray striped tabby, a female. Over the weekend, Tom falls in love with the kitten and wants to keep it. On the
following Monday, Tom picks up a six week old orange calico, another female. The two kittens don't get along at first, but after a couple of days, they start playing together. Tom doesn't want to separate them. In addition to that, one of my co-workers, who has a dog, said that having two pets was better than having just one. So the following Tuesday, Tom picks up a three week old black kitten, a male this time. The other two kittens hate this one. On Friday, we pack up the black kitten and take him to my mother-in-law's. She was expecting a puppy, but agreed
to try the kitten out for a week, while Tom and I were on a cruise. When we visited at the end of the cruise, she said she couldn't keep the kitten, so we brought him home with us. The other two kittens hated him for about a week, then slowly accepted him. Now we have three precious little furballs that we love dearly, and wouldn't give up for the world.
