| Wirt was born November 8, 1772, died February 18, 1834. A friend of Jefferson, Wirt was tapped to prosecute Aaron Burr on charges of treason. Burr was acquitted. Attorney General from 1817-1825 during James Monroe's Presidency and Attorney General from 1825-1829 during John Quincy Adams' Presidency. |
