HOSPITAL QUESTIONS

What hospital do you use?

Do I go into the hospital the day of surgery or the day before?

Does the hospital offer pre-registration?

How long will I be in the hospital?

Do they have large gowns for WLS patients?

Do they have private or semi-private rooms?

Who can stay with me at the hospital, if anybody?

Do I have to stay in the hospital if I don't have a bowel movement?

How soon after surgery should I be able to start walking?

What are visiting hours at the hospital?

How many nurses per patient on the wards? What about ICU?

Will I need lung therapy?  What IS lung therapy?

COMPLICATIONS AND SIDE EFFECTS

Have you ever had to stop a surgery before it was completed? If so, why?

Have you ever had a patient die during, after, or as a result of this surgery?  If so, what were the circumstances?

Is it harder to detect and/or treat stomach ulcers and stomach cancer after this surgery?

Will I have diarrhea and flatulance after surgery? Will it go away eventually? Will I clear out the Seahawks stadium at Monday Night Football?

What will cause vomiting? How will I know that I've eaten too much?  Can vomiting tear the stitches and cause internal bleeding?

What will avert vitamin deficiencies after this procedure?

Will my hair fall out?  Will it grow back? Will zinc keep my hair from falling out?
