![]() Magick is the projection of natural energies to produce needed effects. It is a natural process; the "use of will to effect some desired change"; therefore, any open-minded person who possesses the ability to focus and concentrate their will is capable of working successful magick. Correctly performed magick works, and no amount of "explaining away" or rationalizing changes this fact. Every force in the Universe is capable of being transformed into any other kind of force by using suitable means. There is an inexhaustible supply of any particular kind of force that we may need. Anyone can practice magick - within a religious or not. However, it should be used only for the good of all. Man is ignorant of the nature of his own being and powers. Even your ideas of your limitations is based on experience of the past, and every step in your progress extends your empire. There is, therefore, no reason to assign theoretical (or imagined) limits to what you may be or do. You are capable of being, and using, anything which you perceive, for everything that you perceive is, in a certain sense, a part of your being. You may, therefore, commit the whole Universe of which you are conscious to your individual Will. Every thought, feeling, action, reaction, dream, etc., is part of our perception -- whatever we can perceive, we can do or be. Plain and simple, we are the only cause of what limits we have. Performing magickal rituals simply by manipulating tools such as candles or crystals or herbs will be ineffective, however; for the true power of Magick lies within ourselves. Spells should be done with the proper visualization. If you're like me though, and have a hard time visualizing, pour your emotions and feelings -- your heart and soul -- into your spells. The most successful magickal operations, however, are those done with both the power of emotional force and the proper visualization to guide and direct them. Your Magick can still be perfectly successful if your emotions and intent are strong enough. The power of magick should not be underestimated. It works, often in ways that are unexpected and difficult to control. This is an important point -- magick is a positive practice. Witches DO NOT perform destructive, manipulative, or expoloitive magick. "Evil" magick is an insult to the human race, to the Earth, the Goddess and God, and the Universe itself. Witches are very careful when performing magick. We strive to effect an outcome, yet not dictate exactly how it is to be done, except that it harm noone involved in any way. This attitude leaves it open for possibilities that the Witch might have considered, but which might be better for all concerned. With that said, now I can tell you that every person, yes even you, has the right to self-preservation (like you didn't know that, hah?) -- to fulfill himself to the utmost. You have the right to fulfill your own Will without being afraid that may interfere with that of others; there is more than enough of whatever "energy" you want, to go around for everyone. (This is explained a little further on "The Field of Plenty" page.) And if you keep to your True Course, the more firmly you act, the less likely it is that others will get in your way. If you are performing your True Will, you have the inertia of the Universe behind you. You know how sometimes things jsut seem to fall into place no matter what? That's the Universe adding it's energies to your Will because you are on your True Path, exercising your True Will. There is no conflict in WitchCraft between the spiritual and the material; we do not have to give up one for the other. The Spirit manifests itself in matter: the Goddess is seen as giving us abundance. WitchCraft doesn't demand poverty, chatity, or obedience, but it's not a "looking out for #1" philosophy either. (Remember the Wiccan Rede and the Law of Three). Just as "practical magick" is concerned with attaining such mundane matters as a better job, better health, success, love, etc., so are the mothods and "equipment" used int his kind of magick familiar and "practical". The important thing is to make good use of what we have. You don't have to go out and buy expensive tools before you can begin to work magick; start with what you've got in the house. I started with a regular coffee mug for my chalice, a simple steak knife for my athame, and a picture drawn on a piece of cardboard for my pentacle. The right tools for you will eventually find their way to you one way or another. This is definitely not something to be stressing about - as long as you use the "tools" strictly for your magick and have cleansed and consecrated them for your work, they will work just as good as an expensive steel sword or crystal goblet. Your intent is what matters. ![]() This is my new guestbook, please sign it and let me know what you think of my site. Your feedback is important to me.
