California has spawed the likes of Tool, Rage Against the Machine, Linkin Park, System Of A Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, and Third Eye Blind. Papa Roach may not be as big as some of them but they still have a big career. In 1993 Papa Roach came to life. The band consistened of Jacoby Shaddix, Jerry Horton, Will James, and Dave Buckner. Papa Roach released thier first album "Caca Bonita "in 1995. In 1996 Papa Roach's bassist Will James was removed from the band because he went to a summer church camp frocing them to stop all summer touring. The band found Tobin Esperance, who was a Papa Roach, roadie for three years and he took up bass. The band then released thier second album "Old Friends From Young Years" with the new bassist. The bands third album "5 Tracks Deep" was released 1998. In 1999 Papa Roach released their final indie album "Let Em' Know." In 2000 Papa Roach got a record deal with Dreamworks. The bands first major label album "Infest" was released. The album is rock, metal, punk, rap, pop-elemented hard rock, filled with medolic riffs, and angry lyrics. The first single was "Last Resort." The song was a medolic song. with lyrics about suicide. The video was directed by Marcos Siega (311, Blink 182, Sevendust, TRUSTcompany, Eve 6) and was an instant hit. It got a buzzworthy on MTV and hit the TRL Top Ten constintly. The video has a few hundred of Papa Roach's fans from Sacramento in it. Papa Roach got on the Warped Tour too. The song was written by Jacoby Shaddix and is about and old room-mate of his who tryed to commit suicide. Papa Roach went on the Family Values Tour 2000 with Slipknot, Orgy, Marylin Manson, and Deadsy. Papa Roach also toured with Eminem, Limp Bizkit, and Xhibit on the Anger Mangement Tour. "Last Resort" was nominated for Best Rock Video at the MTV Video Music Awards. The band even got to play "Last Resort" at the VAM Pre-Show. The band played in smoke, and Jacoby smashed the mic into his head lots. Papa Roach were also nominated for a grammey for Best New Artist. "Broken Home" was the seond single from "Infest." The video was directed by Marcos Seiga again. It was shot on a break from thier tour with Powerman 5000, and Korn. The song is about a family that is split up. The video was to Marcos, at the time, the best video he'd ever done. The song was big but not as big as "Last Resort." "Between Angels And Insects" was the third single. The song was Papa Roach's first full rap-metal song released. The song and video got MTV and radio airplay lots. Papa Roach got to play at Ozz-Fest after it's release. Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Crazy Town, Marylin Manson, Distrubed, Cold, Mudvyane, Taproot, Godhead and more. Papa Roach were headliners with Slipknot, Marlyin Manson, Crazy Town, and Black Sabbath. After Ozz-Fest Papa Roach hit the studio.  The new album was called "lovehatetragedy" Papa Roach's first single was "She Loves Me Not." The video was directed by Dave Meyers. The song was fairly big. It managed to get "lovehatetragedy" at #2 on Billboard in its first week though. The album opened a new door for Papa Roach because they totally ditched rap-rock and released a heavier more musical album. Yet in the last verse in "She Loves Me Not" Jacoby does some rapping. "Time And Time Again" was the second single from the album. During the video shoot Jacoby Shaddix was suppossed to jump off a bridge symbolizing his releationship issues with his wife. But someone had commited suicide on that bridge once. Police wouldn't let them do it. They tried to find another place but couldn't book a bridge. Fans took part in the video like "Last Resort." The video was directed by the Malloys (Blink 182, Avril Lavigne.)
