stranded. She was able to fake her way into getting a job as a waitress, where she met Marcus. Marcus promised her that she would never have to work like that again, and she followed him blindly into the life of a "courtesan." She became the eye candy of rich men and she used her talents, and her smarts to help them excel in their need to be great men.
She left the guidance of Marcus, running away from some of the horrible things he actually had planned for her. She has been with many men, mutant and human alike; she sees no difference. While she doesn't love any of them, she likes the power and wealth in which they keep her. Having been with many political figures such as Sen. Graydon Creed, she knows the ins and outs of what goes on behind closed doors in many governments.
Caitlyn is generally well paid for her services and by living in the lap of luxury, she has developed a taste for the finer things in life, especially antique jewelry. And because of her fondness for these trinkets, a young man who was trying to impress Caitlyn and win her affections, stole an antique ring right off the hand of Katrina Ross (Ophelia). Little did he or Caitlyn know, this ring was enchanted, containing Katrina's powers and was the only thing keeping her alive in the present. Once the ring was removed from her hand, Katrina died.
The young man, a mutant, gave Caitlyn the ring as a gift and once she put it on, Katrina's spirit inhabitted her. Hearing Katrina's 'voice' in her head, Caitlyn believed she was going mad and was urged on by this spirit to the MLF island where Katrina was a member of that radical group. Caitlyn had gone to the island for help and in search of answers. She got her answers, but also received something unexpected in the bargin. In an effort to purge herself of Katrina, Caitlyn gave the ring to Violet Hawkings (Trick) which she then put on. But this back fired, in that Caitlyn and Katrina are tied to each other. Caitlyn became weak once the ring was removed and Violet had to give it back, but with one side effect, both women now share Katrina between them and as such are privy to each other's thoughts and experiences.
At this time, Caitlyn has to continue to wear the ring until a way can be found to remove Katrina from both her's and Violet's minds successfully. |
