Mutant X Episode Guide 14-19
Altered Ego
Season One, Episode Fourteen

Plot: A girl from Adam's past turns up, wanting to join Mutant X and blaming Adam for her father's death. Oh, she also has the power to "adjust the moral compass". Cue lots of people acting out of character.

Good points: John Shea doing his Lex Luthor thing. A suitably tense confrontation between Adam and Eckhart. And the "test" in Eckhart's office, which pretty much had me on the floor.

Bad points: Doesn't go far enough, but manages to plough through several plot holes on route.
The Lazarus Syndrome
Season One, Episode Fifteen

Plot: Out clubbing, Emma is seduced by Caleb, who turns out to be a modern-day vampire.

Good points: The MXers not hanging about Sanctuary for the entire episode, some good emoting from Victoria Pratt. Andrew Gillies (Dr. Harrison) upstaging Eckhart.

Bad points: Adam seems to have lost his moral compass again. And did the end twist surprise or convince anyone?
Interface
Season One, Episode Sixteen

Plot: Emma discovers that an old schoolfriend is now working for the GSA.

Good points: Some actual moral arguments taking place, a cracking fight scene. And "I'm too cool for a stasis pod" Eckhart's wonderful "I'm busy" line whilst sitting with his eyes closed.

Bad points: Either too talky or too much completely plotless action. The sub-plot about Jesse was unspeakably dire, Eckhart and Adam hardly feature.
Presumed Guilty
Season One, Episode Seventeen

Plot: Adam has his memory wiped by a New Mutant who blames him for his girlfriend's death and finds himself wanted by the city police.

Good points: The hands down best episode of the season by some way. John Shea going it alone. A lot of exterior action. Guest star Paul Popowich holding his own. Killer lines. Eckhart getting decked yet again. The amazing finale worthy of an end-of-series episode. And that unspeakably cool scene between Tom and John Shea.

Bad points: A below-average fight scene. And a great pity that they head for the "reset" button at the end, but with what style!

Nothing To Fear
Season One, Episode Eighteen

Plot: Eckhart and the Mutant X team find themselves drawn into a nightmarish world by a New Mutant who has the power to control dreams.

Good points: Another amazing format-breaking episode. The lighting and cinematography of the nightmare GenomeX is superb, as is Tom reprising his psycho personality. Eckhart's personal Room 101. Forbes March doing claustrophobia brilliantly. Vivaldi.

Bad points: The plot hole that is the ending. Victoria Pratt being more annoying than usual.
Deadly Desire
Season One, Episode Nineteen

Plot: Brennan falls under the sway of a feral and resumes his life of crime.

Good points: The return of Tony from episode one. Insights into Brennan's past.

Bad points: An episode which apparently seems geared to get Victor Webster's shirt off as much as possible. Everyone else just looks bored.
