Woke up early again, 6ish EST. !! Laid in bed and read my book, and arrived to the dive boats at the
allotted time of 8:45. Nancy was unable to make it due to a migraine, so Cathy dove with Chris and I. My first dive I jumped
in with 2 pounds less than the day before (and the year before), forgetting to check, and therefore turn on, my computer
until I was 10 feet down, and it showed me immediately in the yellow. Hm. The rest was nothing but excitement for me as I deco'd as we were descending and within minutes of the
dive!! So I immediately (and slowly) made my way to 40 feet and hung out there throughout the dive until we made it to the boat. I then went to 25 feet and
hung out for a bit until I made my way to 15 feet for, oh, about 20 minutes until I made it back in the yellow. wtf?! After the surface interval, I was
well into the green, and never made it back to yellow again (er, that day). Speculation is that because I didn't turn on my computer until I was in the
water, the computer didn't like that, and immediately logged me in the yellow, even though both previous dives the day before I ended in the green. The rest
of the week I remembered to check my computer BEFORE I went in the water, and each time, the dive masters had remembered to turn it on for me. I found out
later that if I had ignored my computer and had surfaced while still in deco, my computer may have shut off for 24 hours.
The second dive of the day had lots of current, which we swam against and with (ie, not to the side). Otherwise uneventful. BUT THIS
IS THE DAY WE SWAM WITH THE DOLPHINS!!! As we were going in, Ty turned the boat around just as we arrived at the beach, and back out we went. Sure enough, dolphins
swimming by and under the boat. WOOT. As we're all hanging over the side of the boat looking, Ty just kind of looks at us and says, "you can jump in".
Well, as you can imagine, mayhem ensued as we had all already taken off all our gear. So back on went the booties and fins, scrambling for masks and
snorkels and in the water we went. When we jumped in, they were right below us, so we followed them until we couldn't see them, jumped back in the boat,
drove over to where they were, and jumped in again. One of the other boats was with us, and Lloyd took a great picture of the dolphins while some were
turning for us! My dive trip is now a success. The only thing better would be to be actually diving with dolphins. Or seeing the whales.
Lunch of a ham and cheese sandwich with a salad was provided at the hotel restaurant. I went and showered, then Cathy and I made a run to all the stores on the island looking for
snacks and water (all were closed on Sunday and Saturday night). I then went back out to the beach to lay out under the one tree in front of the hotel.
Another shower, another sunset and rum punch, and then a spaghetti dinner with apple pie a la mode for dessert at the hotel restaurant.
