BREEDING

A number of these cuties are capable of reaching sexual maturity and producing healthy fries at the tender age of 6 -7 weeks old. They are prolific breeders with each spawn yielding approximately 150 - 250 eggs for adults and 20-30 eggs for the "minors". As for the spawning tank's set up, they spawn on flat pebbles, pits in the gravel and even bare bottom tanks. Though desirable, water parameters need not necessarily be conditioned to induce spawning.

At 29C°-30C°, a healthy and fertile pair of your choice will spawn readily within days. Of course you may prefer to let a couple of them choose their mate while allowing yourself to relax and watch how the males win over their mate. You will see wrigglers after 48hrs at this temperature and another 3-4 days later, these hatchlings will start touring the tank under the ever watchful eyes of their parents.
