Site Name | My Comments | Answer to Vision of Trek question |
Star Trek Defender | The USS Furious is a tremendously powerful Furious class ship capable of Warp 9.9998, an unheard of figure. Detailed schematics and crew listings as well as several action-packed episodes are offere in this LCARS site. The site itself if well designed and cleanly implemented throughout. An extra special feature is that some of the sim episodes actually have accompanying pictures, which add to the experience. 5/20/99 | Star Trek was once the vision of one man, but now it is thevision of millions. |
Starbase 16 | With a large species catelogue and tech pages, Starbase 16 has a great deal of content to please any Trek fan. Webmaster Mark also pays attention to the little details of design that make for an enjoyable visit. Good layout and style throughout make this LCARS resource a standout. 5/20/99 | Star Trek to me has always been an interesting mix of technology, philosophy, and ethics. It offers a good future, but uses that avenue to probe current ideas, expose parts of human nature, and our own sence of worth. |
Mike's Borg Domain | The Borg is well represented by this site which contains not only a vast collection of Borg information and media, but a complete episode by episode guide to all the Trek series and even the movies. Well designed and containing an impressive quantity of interesting pages, this site is well worth the visit. 5/9/99 | My Vision of Trek is combining all elements of creating a great web site, and making the great web site devoted to Star Trek, and the hope for the future it symbolises. Of course the Borg aren't exactly a happy dream, but as with all good, there is always evil around the corner, it is the way of the universe. |
United Federation for Earth Defense Role Playing Group | This sim group places their timeline in the 25th century, when the Federation falls to furious Dominion resurgence. Grim and almost apocalyptic in the presentation of the Star Trek world, this group. The United Federation for Earth Defense has the task of rebuilding Starfleet and the sim stories are built around this premise. From complete defeat, this team seeks to reclaim the Federation's place in the galaxy. The site itself is easy to navigate, simple but effective. The contents are varied and worth seeing. 5/9/99 | I believe that Trek is not only a likely forefather of things to come, but also addresses the social issues of the day. I am always amazed to find an episode of the Original Series because they all reflect upon something significant... such as the right to life/abortion conflict the cold war you name it. So, yes, it is a vision of our future hope, a reflection of our current turmoils and a look into our past as well. Trek means a lot to many people. I am a fan, although I wouldn't consider myself a "trekker" in the sense of Trekker, because I do not go out of my way to do things 'trek' related, but I enjoy creative writing and created this growing rpg to be an answer to the direction of many star trek fans around the world. |
The Star Trek Singularity | The Star Trek Singularity is a large resource for Trek news and its contents reflect current interests in the Trek universe. It has a prominent section featuring DS9's Final Chapter, and other sections are also worth visiting. The Klingon Database is particularly interesting. One of the best sections is the Trek Quiz. I'm a semi-informed fan, but some of the questions really stumped me. 5/2/99 | The future portrayed by Star Trek is one that, in spite of war, cherishes peace. I don't think the world truly does this yet. I believe also that the way to reach the goal that Star Trek sets out, we much immerse ourselves in information about global events so we understand what is going on and future generations can make sure that the good stays and bad does not. This idea is echoed by my sites Global News page, dedicated to reaching Gene Roddenberry's admirable goal. |
USS Highlander | The USS Highlander is a Defiant class ship that introduces all the important stations and systems of the warship in a very thorough fashion. The amount of background information found here is mind-boggling and the site as a whole is a great source for Defiant class ship information. The crew roster even contains biographies of each officer that track their careers from birth through to their present ranks. 5/2/99 | Star Trek is a Religion. One man's vision that captured a number of generations, in it's depiction of a better future. A future where man can live in harmony with other races. Where the development of the Human race continues to expand and become more aware, both of the universe and mankind itself. A future where material wants have been replaced by the welfare of your fellow man. |
The Dysonsphere | The Dysonsphere is a sphere that houses a self-contained system centered about a central sun. Supposedly able to support a huge population using, the possibility of one existing was explored in a TNG episode. This site is among the more beautiful Trek-related sites I've encountered on the Net. Its colors and design cater to my taste and it surely is worth the trip just to see how the webmaster presents his material. Covering all of the series and movies, including the animated series, the Dysonspere gives a good introduction to the world of Trek. 4/23/99 | I see Star Trek as a vision of the future, where mankind has evolved and where the old values as money does not play an important role as before. But people, as they say in Star Trek "try to better ourselves" instead. And I really hope that the Star Trek future that awaits us include at least one Dysonsphere. |
Ambassador K'Ehleyr's Empire | Special Emissary K'Ehleyr has a special place in many people's hearts. She died all too soon, in the hands of the Duras family, but her memory lives on... here in her empire. This Klingon site is well thought out and gives all the information one would wish for to understand what it is to be Klingon. Multimedia, Klingon ships and weaponry, and an impressive Klingon biographies section make this site a highly recommended Klingon databank. 4/23/99 | My vision of Trek is where all fans can come together and for a moment forget their differences and look at their commonality in their love of Star Trek. |
USS Heroic | This sim site ranks among the more impressive on-line sim groups I've seen. Its personnel roster is amazingly detailed, giving visitors a sense of the care with which the sims are implemented. Minute descriptions of what is expected of each sim member conveys a sense of responsibility and commitment that most other sim groups fail to achieve. Furthermore, the LCARS interface is well designed and the various mission-specific branches within the sim very original in concept. 4/23/99 | My REAL love for Star Trek started with TNG, though I did watch TOS as a child and STII, Wrath of Khan is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. My vision of Trek would have to be the Captain's Chair. If I were alive at the time in history and, my life would be one of a Starfleet Captain. A comfortable mix of Kirk and Picard. |
Memory Alpha | Ever wondered what serving aboard a Constitution class vessel was like? Memory Alpha provides with a very unique interface as tribute to TOS. A viewscreen and many of the lovable switches and levers make up the site's navigation. Though it takes some getting used to, Scotty would have approved. 3/29/99 | N/A |
USS Indria-A | There are many simming groups with a presence on the net, but the USS Indria has all the components for an extra realistic experience. Their Nebula class starship has a full complement of crew and even a Commodore. Besides a collection of mission logs recounting the many adventures of the Indria, there are informational pages and pictures to help add to the texture of the sim. 3/10/99 | Star Trek is a dream. I am not saying it will not one day be realized, I very much hope it will. The dream is not just a technological goal, it is a goal for mankind in general. To achieve a peaceful, harmonious society. It is something that we can immerse ourself in, and think 'Yes, we could end up like that'. For me, Star Trek is an ambition. |
Science Lab A | Science Lab A is a quirky LCARS layout that is colorful and fun to use. CHIP, or Cybernetic Humanoid Intelligence Processor, is the android alterego of the webmaster. The site is a personal collection of Star Trek related material arranged in an interesting manner. I just liked it the first moment I saw it. Don't miss the fanfic CHIP has written about Barclay! 3/10/99 | Star Trek is the ultimate utopia of our world, to explore unknown teritory, "to boldly go where no man has gone before" as Gene Roddenberry put it. |
Trek Today | Trek Today is part of the Trekzone network of Trek sites. I myself have listed my site in the search engine at Trekseek, so the design was very familiar. Trek today offers front-line news of both DS9 and Voyager. I'm certain that when movie time comes around, plenty of attention will be lavished on the TNG cast as well. For now, it is enough to browse the entries at the site. Note that many pages are not as of yet completed, but those that are merit the visit. 3/7/99 | I love the sense of being out there - Especially The Original Series and Deep Space Nine manage to show a future that is very much real. When I watch these shows, I get the feeling this could actually happen, and I would want it to happen. |
USS Sovereign | The USS Sovereign is a fan club of devoted Trekkers (now that is a redundancy) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Their site is done with care and a lot of style that is evident from the unusaly mouseover effect to the layers of animations and use of cool javascript in unexpected areas. Easy on the eyes and ebullient in its celebration of Trek, this site is a pleasant excursion into the reality of fandom in the US. 2/28/99 | My vision of Trek is that people of all races and colors can share together the opinion of the future of this world and shape it together for all of mankind. To help one another and grow as a people together. |
Starbase 262 | This site is a portal to a collection of all things Trek. With a cool Java navigation on the side, the site has multiple pages each with distinct feel and atmoshpere depending on the theme being presented. The "species" and "Trek series" section are well done and contains interesting information. Usually, there is a wav file embedded in major pages, which can be taken as a good thing or bad thing, but the site itself is a treat to see. 2/1/99 | Star Trek for me started with Kirk, his missions always seemed like a traditional cowboy film but in a starship. It really attracted me with Picard and how the stories were so interlaced with one episode linking to previous installments. The stories are very clever with each race representing a country or culture here on Earth. Plus they simplify complicated Physics so that almost anybody can understand. To the point that it almost seems obvious. |
Starbase 65 [German Site] | It's rather unfortunate that the universal translator has not come into being yet, because the language barrier prevents me from understanding Starbase 65's content. Even so, there are many aspects of this site worth taking a look. Good organization and multimedia from all four series and the movies are just a few. 1/25/99 | I believe that Gene Roddenberry's dream can become a reality in the future. |
The Celestial Temple | The Celestial Temple uses an efficient LCARS interface grants access to the various sections of this site whose scope is Deep Space Nine and all that is connected to it. Among its highlights are the xenology section and the DS9 Residents section which give thorough descriptions of the races and individuals listed. Good information and clean layout makes this site a worthwhile visit. 1/21/99 | My vision of Trek is, that it boldly keeps on going for may generationsto come and that all good thing ... may reflect in our society to build a somewhat better world. |
Star Trek: Liberator | The Liberator is full of nooks and cranies to look and look closely. Johnny, the webmaster, shines brightest in writing long storylines involving the crew of Deep Space Nine and his evolving story is not to be missed. Besides this, the Liberator has a growing database of the surviving ships of the 7th Fleet that I find intriquing. All this wrapped in an efficient and clean LCARS layout. 1/5/99 | Before, in the perfect world of Trek, no one has ambition, and no one holds a grudge. However, that changed with the Dominion War. People are human, but on Star Trek they are seldom treated as such. In Star Trek: Liberator, my character will reveal themselves to be like your family, friends, or next door neighbors - far from perfect, but trying. |
Magic Dreams | Feivel has created a magical dimension where his graphics and immense collection of multimedia is on display. When I say immense, I mean like nowhere else on the net. Here one can find just about any Trek picture worth looking for. For all four series and each of the movies, Feivel has extensive pictures and midis that pay tribute to the great world of Trek. This is a database for true Trekkers to come and collect great pictures, news, and other information. I have made many return visits to his site, and I come out with something new every time. I strongly suggest turning up your screen resolution to 1024 X 768 before entering his realm. 1/3/99 | Star Trek means to me a "hope" for a better future. A Vision for living in peace in harmony. Star Trek is also one of the best SciFic-Series ever made. Great Actors, great storys, perfect sets and not much crime. |
Ric Noell's Galaxy | Ric Noell's galaxy is a thoughtfully done page that doesn't make pretensions about its function. It is a place for his opinions and interaction between guests on the finer points of Trekdom. Ric has gradually built upon his base of material and his articles are both insigtful and thought-provoking. From the current article -The end of DS9- Ric's love for Star Trek is very clear. Any Trekker will appreciate this page for its original commentary and clean layout. 1/3/99 | I see Trek as a representaion of how much we can accomplish, once we put aside our petty prejudices like racism, sexism and other forms of persecution, and join together as citizens of a united Earth. 30 years ago, we were just setting foot on the moon, and now we're building space stations! Trek shows us what we can do if we put our minds to it! |
Dawnsoft | Dawnsoft's trademark gold 3d logos will be familiar with most web saavy Trekkers. Indeed, Sven, who hails from Germany, has a great talent for 3d rendering. His site features some truly great pieces of work, and are very good collectibles. Dawnsoft. Another really cool item in Sven's pages is the Trek Pinball. Unique to the site, there are four flavors, one for each Trek series. Dawnsoft is a great place to see some great graphics and clean, efficient design.1/3/99 | Star Trek represents a better and a friendlier world. |
USS Missouri | The USS Missouri is a forum for fan fiction written by team of talented writers. Each "mission log" records the adventures of her crew and is given representation by a unique poster that sets the mood for the story that follows. Originality and a lot of thought are the features of this excellent Trek story site. 12/21/98 | A more realistic, grittier life. One where everything doesn't always come out nice at the end. |
The U.S.S. Veldran NCC 7897 | The USS Veldran has many elements of surprise about it. A stellar cartography section that leaves a distinct impression of kinship with the Generations movire, a starfleet exam that the Admiral hand-grades for anyone who takes them, and the largest officer profile section I've seen are just some of the highlights. Veldran is a stylish contribution to Trek on the web. 12/12/98 | My Vision of Trek is the long awaited hope for this planet to become one with peace and shared resources to visit far off place of the universe and beyound. Exploring space is also one of my dreams. |
Starfleet Supply | This site has very well updated information on Star Trek in general, covering all the bases from TOS to Voyager. Its unique pages, such as a Wolf359 theme and a Jadzia memorial make it an interesting site to visit. 12/09/98 | Star Trek is a possible future so much better then the one we are in right now! |
