136. Colonel Frederick Fayette¹⁰ DENT (George⁹, Peter⁸, Judge Peter⁷, Colonel William⁶, Judge Thomas⁵, Peter⁴, James³, William², Roger¹) was born in Cumberland, MD 6 OCT 1786. Frederick died 8 OCT 1873 in Washington, D.C., at 87 years of age.

He married Ellen Bray WRENSHALL in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA, 22 DEC 1814. Ellen was born 1792. Ellen was the daughter of John WRENSHALL and Mary BENNINGTON. Frederick Dent left Cumberland at the age of 21 as the assistant to David Shriver, who located the National Road from Cumberland to Wheeling. After spending some time as a merchant in Pittsburgh and Louisville, KY, he settled in St. Louis, MO where he was a slaveowner with strong Southern sentiments.

He establishe his summer residence ten miles south of St. Louis, and called it "White Haven", after the family home - both in Maryland and in England. It was then an 850-acre farm in what is now south St. Louis County. It was at "White Haven" that his son, Frederick Tracy Dent, a graduate of West Point, brought his classmate Ulysses Grant to visit.

Colonel Frederick Fayette DENT and Ellen Bray WRENSHALL had the following children:

139 ii. John Cromwell DENT was born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA 22 MAY 1816. John died 1889 in Carthage, MO, at 73 years of age. He married twice. He married Ellen DEAN. He married Amanda SHURLDS.

140 iii. George Wrenshall DENT was born in St. Lewis, MO 30 JAN 1819. George died 1898 in Berkeley, CA, at 79 years of age. He married Mary Isabella SHURLDS 14 OCT 1841.

141 iv. Brig. General Frederick Tracy DENT was born 17 DEC 1820. Frederick died 1892 in Denver, Denver, CO, at 71 years of age. He married Helen Louise LYND.

142 v. Lewis DENT was born in St. Lewis, MO 3 MAR 1823. Lewis died 22 MAR 1874 in Washington, D.C., at 51 years of age. He married Anna Elizabeth BAINE.

143 vi. Julia Boggs DENT was born in St. Lewis, MO 26 JAN 1826. Julia died 14 DEC 1902 in Washington, D.C., at 76 years of age. She married President Ulysses Simpson GRANT in St. Lewis, MO, 22 AUG 1848. Ulysses was born in Point Pleasant, Clermont, OH 27 APR 1822. Ulysses died 23 JUL 1885 at 63 years of age. 144 vii. Ellen Wrenshall DENT was born 28 JUN 1828. "Nellie" died 16 DEC 1904 in Washington, D.C., at 76 years of age. She married Major Alexander SHARP.

145 viii. Emily Marbury DENT was born CA 1836. She married James Finnie CASEY 1861.
