106. George9 DENT (Peter8, Judge Peter7, Colonel William6, Judge Thomas5, Peter4, James3, William2, Roger1) was born in Prince Georges Co., MD CA 1755. George died 1812 in Cumberland, MD, at 57 years of age.

He married Susanna Marbury DAWSON 28 APR 1785. Susanna was born in Prince Georges Co., MD. Susanna was the daughter of John DAWSON and Martha Ann MARBURY. Susanna is deceased. Her body was interred in Cumberland, MD, Rose Hill Cemetery.

George served in the Maryland Line. He served with Smallwood, and at Stony Point under Gen. Anthony Wayne.

George's occupation: Surveyor. He was a representative to Congress from Maryland from 1793-1801, and was temporary speaker during the illness of Speaker Dayton. George was responsible for surveying and laying out the town of Cumberland. He and his wife lived in a log house at 118 Green Street. They later moved to another home, built of bricks, on the same property, but up on the hill; this is the house beside the Courthouse on Washington Street, it is currently a bank.

George DENT and Susanna Marbury DAWSON had the following children:
