As far back as the mid-1600s, there are scattered references to Manicoms in records from
East Budleigh, Clyst Honiton and Lympstone in DEVON. (As we have noted in other pages at this site, the surnames always varied in their spelling)
James MANICOM was the 4th child of John MANICOM and his 2nd wife Susannah SPETTIGUE.
John was known as the 'joiner' because of his occupations.
James was born Feb 3 1806 in Stoke Damerel, but christened April 27th.

Betsy BRAY was only 48 yrs old when she died May 25 1862 in Trevena Cornwall.
Her youngest child, William Henry, was only 3 years old.
I would guess that 19 yr old Elizabeth Rechibina took over much of his daily care
just as she took over the housekeeping.
