The Morning Show

Home For The Holidays show review (and encounter!)
On December 15, at 5:30 to 7:00 pm, there was a holiday story-telling skating show called "Home For the Holidays" at the Kristi Yamaguchi Embarcadero Holiday Ice Rink. Eric was lucky and fortunate enough to attend:
I saw Kristi perform at her San Francisco ice rink at the Embarcadero, along the waterfront. She did her usual yearly ice show, and it was FANTASTIC! She was sweet, lovely, talented as ever -- and the highlight was her two solo numbers: one, skating to Blue Christmas, and the other, her standard, skating to Amy Grant's Most Wonderful Time of the Year.Thank you Eric for sharing your story! How exciting it must have been to watch and talk to Kristi :-)It was very cold, and yet --trooper that she is-- she had on her cute, but skimpy costumes on! The first solo featured a bare-midriff outfit (she has a cute navel! :) ) and then, a backless outfit. The ice rink permits a closeness not usually available --she skated at times within a few feet of me... :)
After the performance, guarded by a few cops, she left the rink. But not before I spoke to her. "Hi Kristi!" I said, and she replied, "Hi, How ya doing!??". Shook her hand too. A big thrill for me...

America Online/TV Guide Online Chat Session
On December 9th, there was an hour long chat session with Kristi, Tara Lipinski and Scott Hamilton hosted by America Online and TV Guide. They promoted the December 11th, Target Stars On Ice broadcast on CBS. The "plugs" are rather noticable when you read the transcript (especially Scott!).
Kristi answered various questions from her fans about skating, programs, and her personal life. She even answered one of mine :-)
My question: Kristi, what are your plans after your 10-year run with the SOI tour? I hope that you will continue to skate! :)"In retrospect, I wish I had worded the question alittle more eloquently. But, to be honest, I wasn't really concerned about my vocabulary at the time. After having numerous problems with my computer during the live chat, I was just so thrilled and happy when the moderator decided to choose my question to ask Kristi.
She answered: I will continue to skate, but just not on the road as much as the touring life. Probably smaller special events.

Kristi at the Florida Panthers Game
On Saterday, December 4th, Kristi was at the National Car Rental Center (NCRC) during the Florida Panther's home game againest the Washington Capitals. She collected toys for the Toys For Tots program with the other players' wives, fiancees and girlfriends. There was also a short interview with commentator Randy Moller during the pre-game show. Jennifer sent me the following tidbit (thanks Jennifer!):
I do remember she was wearing Bret's jersey and it was the alternate (blue) jersey. Randy Moller just asked her how she was adjusting in South Florida and if she was getting to know the other players' wives and girlfriends. He didn't ask her much! And according to the Sun Sentinel, they collected 2,000 toys from fans for the charity. And if anyone was wondering, the Panthers won the game over the Capitals by 2-1 :-)
12/4 Stars On Ice 2000 Calendar
There is a new Stars On Ice calender. It retails for $9.99 and is sold at Target stores. Kristi is featured in the months of March and June (with various cast members).
The following are edited excerpts from the original post written by Tammy on the Four Corners mailing list:
The calendar: It's dimensions are a little over 11x16 and it's a full sheet calendar (i.e. the binding is at the top of the pages, rather than in the middle).March - Kristi - She's in a dark purple dress with stones/sequins on the front. Full leap with her right leg extended out straight behind her and the left leg tucked in and both arms flung behind her head. She's looking up. The inset photo is of her off-ice sitting on a wooden bench or chair with her arms over the back.
June - 13 various photos of cast members: Katia, Denis & Elena, Kristi, Scott, Tara, Kurt, Roca & Sur, Lu, Steven, Ilia and Todd & Jenni.
There is also a brief paragraph about each skater(s) on their page under the inset photo.
