As dawn breaks and the sun peeks in through a window, I can be seen sitting in front of my television, eyes staring intently at the screen, surfing,...surfing,...surfing,.. ..the Net. I have been up all night and I am oblivious to my surroundings because I am engrossed in surfing,...surfing,...surfing,...the Net. Yes, behind a locked door, I sit for hours at a time, totally involved with the Web, because I am addicted to WEBTV, surfing,...surfing,...surfing... I am one of hundreds (maybe thousands!) of people who use to be "normal"--until WEBTV came along and changed our lives. We are now WEBTV "junkies" who have to have their daily WEBTV "fix" in order to function the rest of the day. I live for the e-mail. I live for my favorite sites. I live for the chats. I live for this site. Forget about eating (who needs Jenny Craig? I've lost 10 pounds!)! And sleeping is a thing of the past (the whites of my eyes are so red, they glow in the dark, and the circles around my eyes are so dark, that people think that one of my parents is a raccoon!)! I have become dependent on being able to connect to the Internet--my "life force" (I seem to wither when its turned off). Its kind of scarey to realize that I may be having a "love affair" with a little black box that hooks up to my television like a VCR, but does sooo much more! What can I say? It has taken over my life. I've tried to taper off, but its no use! The desire to surf the Net becomes so great, that I can't stand it when the box shuts off, or WEBTV does their maintainence once or twice a week. Its like an incurable virus that cannot be controlled! It spreads to people I've come in contact with. Reality? What's that? Isn't the Net reality? The fine line between what is real and what is not is slowly disintegrating so that its hard to distinguish between the two. Its sooo hard, especially when I'm surfing,...surfing,...surfing,...surfi..

HEY! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!
Huh?...Wha?...Where am I? Who are YOU?
Are you ok? I think you were dreaming, or something! I'm Nancy from The WebTV Addict's Page, and I....
NANCY?! "The WebTV Addict's Page"?! Nancy, I'M SOOSE!!
Yeah.....Well, as I was saying, I heard about this site, and out of curiosity, I thought I'd drop by and see it for myself. EEEEWWWW, BOY! I would NEVER have believed it if I hadn't SEEN it!
Like it, huh?
Well,...its DIFFERENT, anyway. Were you dreaming?
Oh. Uh,...yes....I was dreaming. Why?
You were talking in your sleep. Oh....you look BAD! Yep! You are DEFINITELY addicted to WEBTV. I can tell by that goofy look on your face, and the glassy look in your eyes. Yeah, you got it BAD!
But, I look like this ALL the time!
Oh. Uh...what are you writing, another one of those columns?
Well, kind of. Its a poem. Wanna hear it?
OH MY! Look at the time! Well, gotta go now. Nice meeting you! BYE! SLAM!
SLAM!
Uh....Nancy? Nancy? NANCY?! Well! I guess something important came up, and she just HAD to leave in a hurry. Nice lady, but a little too nervous, if you ask me. Now, let's see... My poem....
Addiction has set in--I confess to that. My main problem is, that I like to "chat"! My existence consists of sleepless nights, Happily surfing the Net, and visiting sites!
My site is demanding, and devours me, So that I don't realize that I'm no longer free. Engulfed in MIDIs that I do enjoy, Its hard to believe that its not just a toy!
Lost in HTML and "tags", My eyes now have multiple bags! Things are fuzzier now; I just can't see-- Thank you, so much for this, WEBTV!
I would like to thank Nancy, the creator of "The WebTV Addict's Page" for "coming" to visit, and for being a good sport about it. Please visit her site--its terrific!
This page is dedicated to WEBTV, because if it hadn't been for WEBTV, I wouldn't be here tormenting you with this stuff, would I?
I want to say "hello" and thanks to Wrenn, Rare Bear, jc, and the Andresen Family for their assistance--"HELLO AND THANKS!"
ALSO, a VERY special "hello" and thanks to Linda, my "mentor" and "guardian angel", who is helping me make this site compatible not only for WEBTV users, but for pc users as well. If you "click" on her name, you can go to her award winning site. And boy! Is IT a site (30 pages)! She says that she needs the "hits" (or was that "needs to get hit"?)!
THE NEXT INSTALLMENT WILL BE SOMETIME IN MAY. SEE YOU THEN!
(Pretty neat, huh?)
