Magic Kingdom
Parades & Fireworks

Part of what makes Walt Disney World so special is its ability to turn the ordinary into a special, memorable experience. Think about it. You can go to see a local parade or fireworks display and enjoy yourself, but you don't walk away humming a tune, and it doesn't stay in your mind for very long at all. But after the last float passes and the last ember dies out at a Disney spectacular, it stays with you for long afterwards. While these descriptions hardly do justice to the real shows, I hope they will give you a taste of the magic one experiences when seeing these spectacles in person.

SpectroMagic
In the words of Jiminy Cricket, it's "the splendor, the spectacle, the sparkling sensation, where the romance, the comedy, and the thrill of Disney fantasies come to electric life". Magic Kingdom's most technologically advanced parade ever, SpectroMagic is not to be missed. Featuring classic Disney characters like Mickey, who conjures up the parade through his sparkling crystal ball; and Goofy, who comically performs in the parade band; SpectroMagic winds through the darkened streets of the Magic Kingdom casting 72,000 watts of light into the night. Dancing ostriches, butterflies, and seahorses accompany brilliantly lit float after float of Disney movie characters, all leading up to the climax where the wicked winged Chernabog from Fantasia arises from his float and menacingly eyes the helpless crowd below before folding back up and going on his way. If you can only see one parade at Disney, this is the one to see.

Trivia:
The best spot to see both this parade and Magical Moments is along the parade route in Liberty Square or Frontierland. Most folks flock to Main Street to see the parade, leaving these areas relatively crowd-free.

Share a Dream Come True
Brand new for the "100 Years of Magic" celebration, this parade pays tribute to the imagination of the man who started it all, Walt Disney. The floats in this newest 3 o' clock parade are designed to look like giant snowglobes, complete with your favorite characters inside. It all starts with a mouse. Mickey, that is! Mickey waves to the crowd from inside a dome of glass on a float that shows how Mickey has progressed throughout the years. Hosted by Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, the parade also features other floats representing Snow White and Pinocchio, Disney Princesses, Disney Villains, and finally a Castle in the Clouds float that turns into a crystal carousel.

Trivia:
This parade replaced Magical Moments, a celebration of all things Disney that featured park guests performing alongside classic characters.
According to park Cast Members, the strangest question they recieve is, "When is the 3 o' clock parade?"
If you don't particularly care to see either of the parades, then use this time to ride the park's most popular attractions with a significantly reduced wait due to the mobs of people at the parade.

Fantasy in the Sky
Tinkerbell lights the way for this fiery spectacle of pyrotechnics, soaring from the tallest spire of Cinderella Castle to kick off the show. The fireworks are synchronized to Disney music played all over the park. The music highlights each area of the park, with attraction favorites like "it's a small world", "You Can Fly!" from Peter Pan's Flight, "Grim Grinning Ghosts" from the Haunted Mansion, "Yo Ho" from Pirates of the Carribbean, and "Under the Sea" from Ariel's Grotto. Top this off with an thrilling explosive display of color, and you've got a great way to end your day at Magic Kingdom.

Trivia:
The best place to see the fireworks is in Fantasyland near the carousel. You can also get great views from Main Street and the bridge to Tomorrowland, but these are often crowded by scattering parade viewers.
