Berenike A. Balmied, Visual Artist. A 22-year resident of The Piano Factory, she has exhibited at the Elma Lewis School of Fine Arts, and has mounted shows at the Gallery at the Piano Factory. She has performed flute solos at The National Urban League, the Women's Service Club, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is also an author.

Ken Beck, A painter, is represented by Gallery NAGA on Newbury Street. His work focuses on real objects-- cake pans, hats, fruit, fire hydrants, cylinders -- to which he gives an elegantly abstract quality. His ultra-large Duckbill Hat: Top was the stand-out in the 1994 show, Four Hundred Years of Still Life Paintings from the Permanent Collection at the Museum of Fine Arts. He is also represented in the permanent collections of the Harn Museum of Art, the Boston Public Library, and the DeCordova Museum.

Rick Berlin, Born Richard Gustave Kinscherf III, singer, songwriter, screenwriter, recording artist, poet, changed his name after his band, Luna (formerly Orchestra Luna) released its hit single Hooray for Hollywood in 1978. A graduate of Yale, he turned down full scholarships to Yale Graduate School of Architecture and Yale School of Drama to go it alone. He has had 3 bands while at the Piano Factory: Berlin Airlift, Rick Berlin-The Movie, and Rome is Burning. His movie musical The Kingdom recounts a whacko religious cult in Vermont and a boy with magic powers. He taught Drama and Songwriting at Boston Technical High School. He conceived of the Drags, Dicks & Dykes Benefit which raised nearly $10,000 in 2 years for the AIDS Action Committee. He co-created Boston for the World to raise money for the homeless through concert and event promotions. He was also a panelist (the informed bohemian) on the local PBS affiliate's telecast, The Group (WGBH-Boston).
