brand-new and oh so fine. The seventh (!) album by corrie van binsbergen. If you're not familiar with her work, here's another reason to check it out. "kado uit de hell" (gift from hell) is an excellent contemporary, jazzy, mini-opera. A bit over a year ago, corrie and her band toured holland for two months, performing this set. I was lucky enough to catch them two and a half times (the half one being a 'shortened' outdoor concert at a music festival) and enjoyed every minute of it. And now, there's the album. It opens with a fabulous, laid-back guitar solo (the title track) and then jumps into the story: an average (?) couple has a fight and breaks up. They try to put the pieces back together while discussing love, the meaning of life and relationships. Some great music and excellent vocal work make this album a must-have.
Corrie en de grote brokken (corrie and the big lumps) will be doing a reprise tour. Try to catch them.
