Sidney

Nico Sels and Christy Lein pooled their talents to create Sidney: The Unofficial GK3 Homepage. Terrific graphics together with interesting and original content make this a wonderful site to visit.

A message from Spidey

Joshua, the new web producer for Sierra Studios posted his first message at St. George's Books last Friday:

Greetings GK fans everywhere! This is Spidey the new Web Slinger for Sierra Studios. I'm just posting to apologize for not getting back to some of you. Due to server problems, all of the mail in Email ID: gabriel.knight @Domain: sierra.com was lost. Now that things are back up and going, I can answer your questions in a (hopefully) timely manner . At this point, if you have a question that you sent which never got an answer and you still NEED an answer, please feel free to email and I'll get back to you soon.

Watch the site for an update. I'm working on lots of stuff now, but am going to try to get the GK stuff updated quickly.

Until next time, keep your stick on the ice!

The Web Slinger, Spidey (Joshua)

Designer Diary Update

Jane Jensen's Designer Diary hosted by Gamespot has been updated. In her latest entry, she talks about the programming challenges with the new engine. As a result of delays in getting the game interface part of the engine working effectively, a new game development strategy has been adopted. Many of the tasks which are usually done while the game is being play tested are being done now instead. Finally she addresses the issue of the push to have the game ready for the Fall 1998 release date.

New Web Producer

Joshua Bently is the new web producer at Sierra. Previously working in tech support at Sierra, Joshua will now be in charge of the updates to the GK3 webpage. He can be contacted at Email ID: gabriel.knight @Domain: sierra.com.

Awards for GK3

GK3, and Sierra games in general, made quite an impression at E3 this year. First, OGR released its Best of E3 list. GK3 was named one of the "25 Best of the Best" and was runner up for "Most Promising Adventure Game".

"Combine this engine with Jane Jensen's story-telling ability and crafty puzzles ... and you have a game that could set the standard for future titles."

-- Doug Radcliffe, OGR

Next, the All Games team, Gamecenter editor George Jones, Gamepower editor Paul Hyman, and PCME editor Rod White, as well as some guys from op3dfx.com and Planetquake, got together and chose the games worthy of the E3 Best of Show awards. Sierra games won five of the awards, including Best Adventure Game for GK3! All the awards were announced about 40 minutes into the RealVideo Game Time! show on June 5.

GK3 at E3

Most of the prominant online gaming publications mentioned GK3's presence at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Some even provided new screenshots and other goodies. The latest word is that GK3 will have 30 to 35 characters, 16 two to four hour time blocks, and will be released in Fall 1998. Thanks go to Adam and Christy for keeping me informed. :-)

  • GameSpot - a short preview, not really any new info

  • Gamesmania - this extensive preview brings you up-to-date on all the GK3 information that's been released

  • OGR - short overview highlighting the cameras, timeblocks, puzzles, and character interactions in GK3. Also check out several screenshots from GK3, including 5 new ones (which I added to my images section)

  • All Games Network - go about 32 minutes into this RealVideo clip to see an interview with Jane Jensen about GK3, includes shots of game animation :-)
