Below you will find the services we offer NCBA members on-line. Let us know if you found these services useful, or if you would like to suggest something else we might be able to do.
The NCBA calendar of events lists the dates for upcoming events held by the NCBA. By its very nature the list of events in the calendar cannot be very long since NCBA does not always fix event dates very far in advance, due to logistic problems of deciding the venue, etc.,. Here is the NCBA event calendar, which lists the upcoming events hosted by NCBA. The list of events is also maintained on NCBA's web page on NCNeighbors. NCNeighbors is an effort by the WRAL-TV5 station together with News and Observer online to create an area in which non-profit organizations operating in North Carolina have a home on the WWW, and also allows for a larger visibility of the events. Events which have already occured are maintained for a small period of time before removal.
The newsletters published by the NCBA for the last few years are archived here, as are some of the e-mails that went out with related additional information. Effort is made to duplicate the look and feel of the newsletters which members receive by traditional mail, but some concession has to be made to on-line considerations. Sections of the newsletter written in Bengali script or consisting of pictures are not reproduced unless they are essential to the contents of the newsletter. Forms or time-sensitive information are not reproduced.
This is a directory of the current members of NCBA, the electronic version of the printed directory that is distributed to members. It contains names, addresses, and phone numbers of NCBA members. For obvious privacy reasons, we cannot maintain this directory actually online. Send us an e-mail at ncbasn@oocities.com to request the directory in electronic form. This service is available to NCBA members only, so it is important to include your member name in the mail for verification purposes.
NCBA maintains a small library of Bengali books, in accordance with its objective of promoting Bengali art and literature. The library is primarily created with the help of donation of books from members. Take a look at the NCBA Bengali book library catalog as of now. If you have Bengali books to donate, they are always welcome. The suitability of material is ultimately passed upon by the Executive Committee.
The library moves around among NCBA members on a yearly basis. Currently Anupam Basu is maintaining the NCBA library. To borrow any of the books in the library, mail Anupam or call him to find if the book is available and arrange pick-up details. There is no specific limit to the time you may borrow the book, but a month is suggested as a reasonable time. If another member wants to borrow a book you have, you are expected to return it if you have been holding it for more than a month.
There has been a proposal for the addition of videocasettes of Bengali feature films or informational films to the NCBA library. Once again, this will largely depend on donations from members of videocasettes. If you have Bengali casettes to donate, they are welcome.

The annual events of NCBA are held at a few popular venues each year. Directions to these go out in the newsletters announcing the events. Some of the more popular ones are maintained here for ready referral. We hope to add maps to these directions soon.
