It's known that a placement is quite a good form of expirience in
most cases, where it gives undergraduates a real demonstration of the working
world.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Being here for couple of months, I have been exposed to a number of
programming tasks, which have extended my understandings widely.
An Example: At university level, we are usually told to write applications which
does a specific task. It doesnt matter how you code, as
long as the functions are carried out. At work, its different.
yes, you can code your way, but at the same time you are
required to maintain code optimazation techniques - where
minimal/efficient coding is used.
So what Technical skills have I achieved ?
Producing in house applications using .NET programming technology
- Implementing Web based applications using ASP.NET
- Analysis and Design of web applications
- Database access using ADO.NET;
- Using ITextSharp to produce PDF documents within the programming platform
- Learning to write simple XML codes
- Producing documentation to support the design of applications.
- Carrying out function tests
what about Soft Skills ?
- Improved my team working skills - by exchanging ideas and design
knowledge with team members.
- Being able to find a pragmatic solution to difficult situiations in
programming applications.
Personal Development?
- Improving programming skills
- Able to code optimize and re-use
- Learning .NET technology
- Incorporating object oriented techniques
- Learning to produce documentation which encapsulates necessary information
effectively
- Learning how to function test, identify faults, and debug.
- Learning to insert appropriate HTML controls to carry out complex operations.
