Violet O'Neil was a very hard working mother of eleven
children. Her husband, "Uncle Bud" and herself (Aunt Vi) were
very dedicated as a family. They kept a small farm, started
O'Neil Bike ship in downtown Harbor Beach, ran a printing press
in the basement of their house, while doing many other assorted
jobs (driving a school bus, etc.) to raise their large family.
I am now 50 years old writing this and I left Michigan as a
very young boy (age of 11). Even so, and while living in
Michigan we only got to see our cousins a few times a year, I
can definitely state that Violet and Bud's work ethic was the
epitomy of the Mid-west. They never seemed to be "relaxed!".
It is interesting that there is no reference to any of her
family in her obituary. Placing her in the (assumed) household
of Edward and Mary Schroeder "fits" time and placewise, and
there are no other Shroeders in the area. This family was
found in the 1920 census, 6 years prior to Violet's birth.
More verification needed.

Violet had a hard time with her lungs in her final year. I
last saw my Aunt Violet when I was in Harbor Beach at my
mother's funeral (1997). She will be missed.
[219] Violet's family information is from her daughter in law, Peggy.
