[1243] Death record states John was age 90, farmer, born in England,
parents unknown. (source Peggy O'Neil)

[1521] Ann O'Neil age 27, married Joseph Lancaster, age 28, on April
6, 1862 in Sanilac County. This corresponds with Thomas
O'Neil's obituary, where he lists a half brother in Sanilac
named James, this being James Lancaster, son of Ann and Joseph.
However this strong reference to Ann being Thomas (and his
brother James mother) has many other events that make this
conclusion questionable. For one, why are the brothers living
in different homes in 1870?

Why is Thomas referred to as an orphan later in life if he was
living with his mother during this time, and she continued to
live only a county away? Why was Thomas's father's name
recorded on his death certificate with no entry for his mother?
All this points to the belief that Thomas and James parents
were Patrick and Bridgett (Hart) O'Neil who died in Lanark
County, Ontario.

Why did Anna say she was O'Neil for this marriage record rather
than Hart? We can only wonder if it had something to do with
bringing orphans into the US, she may have had to pose as their
mother. We know that Ann is a Hart, as her death record
declares such. What we have here, at least per this author's
view, is a loving maternal family taking care of Bridgett
Hart's two son's, possibly fulfilling a death bed promise to
bring them to the US. Obviously, more research is needed.

[1525] Ann is Thomas & James mother, Joseph Lancaster being their step
father. Thomas is listed in the 1870 census, James is listed
in 1880. Thomas's obituary afirms they are brothers and that
they have a step-brother Joseph Lancaster Jr.

[82] Lottie, Myrtle and John were 16, 14 and 11 when she died of
Pramonic ANemic at age 54.

[84] Mary Jane Temple immigrated to th US at the age of 9.

[1355] Marriage record #201, dated 31 Oct 1889 of James Minard,
quarryman age 37, and Mary Jane Temple, age 31, both giving
birthplace of Canada.

Marraige date given as 5 Nov 1889 in Grindstone City, official
being David McFaun, Minister and apparent witness. (It is
assumed that this was a clerical error).

Marriage witnesses were Joseph and Martha TEMPLE, Grindstone
City, brother and sister in law to Mary. Marriage as
ministered by David McFaun, in Grindstone City. Hames and Mary
were 37 and 31 respectively. (MR#2-30-1889)

James parents were also listed on the record, recorded as Adam
MINARD and Sarah RILEY. Mary Jane's father listed as Joseph
TEMPLE.

(note: the father recorded is in error. Joseph was Mary Janes
brother and apparent witness. It is assumed that this was a
clerical error.)

[1357] Part of the confusion on James Minard's lineage is that
different records, particularily the census, show his father as
being from either Pennsylvania or New York. The 1900 census,
for example, lists his father as being born in Pennsylvania,
Mother born Ireland. This particular record further states
that his father Immigrated to US in 1855, naturalized PA.
