Of course all of you know what Black History Month is, but did you know that our town of McKinney has been celebrating it too? That's right! What are we doing? McKinney owes a lot of its civic involvement to the African American community, therefore, there are many activities which our towns-people are engaging in right now. The following is just one example.
On Sunday, February 8th, the North Texas Jobs Corps Choir entertained a St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. The church was holding its annual Black History program. Isaac Turner, McKinney City Manager, was a guest speaker. They honored six people, including some people who held positions in McKinney ISD.
Black History month is a tribute to African Americans who have helped pave the way to our society. We need to make sure that we take time to recognize them.
