Chapter 4
Feeling better the next day, Freddie decided that we should call Claudia over to figure out what was going on. That's where we were now...

"Okay, what do we know as of now?" I asked as I looked over at Claudia and Freddie.

Claudia looked at me for a second, then replied, "We know Adam has a hideout downtown, somewhere over in Creek's Park, here in New York. As of how he is walking around right now, we have no clue." She walked over and sat down at the table with me and Freddie. "I heard from some inside leaders that he is planning to..." she paused and look over at me, bitting her lower lip, then continued, "...to bring forth the Anointed One."

"WHAT!? What do you mean bring forth the Anointed One? He, he, he can't. Can he?" I looked at Freddie. He shrugged his shoulders.

Claudia put her hands onto mine. "He won't. We'll be the first to stop him," she smiled. Claudia was a thirty-one-year-old woman. Her mother and brother had been killed when she was only fifteen, by a vampire. From then on, she had dedicated her life to hunting and killing them. I had helped her one time, turning her losing battle to a victory; and from then on, we have continued to help each other.

**********Nine Hours Later**********

"Ugh, if I have to look up one more word in Latin again, I'm going to hurl."

Looking over at Freddie, I laughed.

"What?" he wondered. "It's not funny. Why the hell does everything have to be in Latin? I mean, what the hell does
hucikus mean?"

Automatically, I answered, "It's a type of vampire tribe back in the 1800s. They only hunted for--"

"Stop right there before I choke you, Rachel."

Claudia looked over at us and laughed. "So, find anything that isn't useless yet?" she asked. We were over at her house in the basement, looking through her collection of books and searching the Internet to find any research about the Anointed One. So far no luck.

"Well, this is interesting," Freddie said.

Claudia and I nearly ran into each other, trying to see what he had found. "Ugh!" she complained, swatting at him. "You're such an ass." She hit at him again. Laughing, I shook my head and peered into the book Freddie held. There on the upright page was an illustration of three naked women doing some kind of ritual sacrifice.

With a smirk, Freddie asked, "Do you think I could get a printout of this?"

Slap.
