Theatre (mid 80's & early 90's)In production roles, I rigged and operated lighting and audio at the Universal, Athenaeum, Malthouse and La Mamma theatres amongst others. The shows included The Diary Of Adrian Mole, Billy Whitelaw, Rik Mayall & Ben Elton (the Young Ones), Pearls Before Swine, Blues In The Night and many other shows. Notable experiences of this period were at the Athenaeum Theatre and Malthouse Complex where I installed, programmed, and operated advanced audio and lighting systems. I was also one of a small group responsible for the general rehabilitation of the Athenaeum Theatre including back-stage and Front-of-house communications, house lighting, bio-box etc. I started at the Athenaeum as a Front-of-house Manager for several months. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last Laugh (1982-1983)As Night Manager at the Last Laugh Theatre-Restaurant I was responsible for up to 350 patrons, five kitchen staff, eight to eleven waiting and bar staff, the stage crew, actors, and security. I was also responsible for all takings (bar and door receipts) and bookings. Other peripheral matters such as press nights, openings, staff hiring, morale-boosting sessions, were part of the job in a combined Theatre /Restaurant /Nightclub which operated on high energy levels and catered to a wide cross section of the community. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
