SCREW PRESSES

This steel, adjustable bar press with spring loaded stop and 12-28 screw, is most useful for removing and mounting worms on motor shafts and many odd cases. Alignment is critical to avoid damage. Adapters of various shapes can be used in the stop slot or on the screw pin end. Although no longer made, a SMALL BAR CLAMP _ could be modified to make one.

This aluminum adjustable frame press with 10-32 press screw was designed for pressing worms on motors, mounting wheels and gears. A leaf spring loaded, reversible pin holds wheel and retracts as shaft exits bore. The 4" frame screws limit pressing to about 3.2" max and 2.8" with adapter.

Accessory tip.

A useful press of my design (ala NWSL) made from 1.5" x 2.5" rectangular steel tubing. Using standard 10-32 press screws and 3/8-16 set screws for backup, a wide variety of tips and dies can be made inexpensively. FABRICATION is very simple .

Most good vises can be used as screw presses with care. Machinist's are best, since they are unusually precision aligned and machined with very little play.
