Naming your character to be thematic
In Val-Amer, the thematic is far from our reality in the time line, but that does not exclude you to name your character “John” if ever it is that you are wishing for.
That is applicable to every name.
We have, though, a bank of name that suggest you more exotic name.
The staffs are the person having the last word as to accept or refuse your name.
Of course, any belittling names are systematically refused. You don’t want to start your char on a bad foot, even if you plan to play a wicked character.
Name has no gender, so yes, in our world; John can be a woman of 5 feet high.
You can suggest name based on today technology as well. In fact, this is even encouraged. It is normal to be named Atapi or even Teevee although the real meanings of those words have been lost in the night of the time for your char. But it had to be related to the internet and computer domain and as often as possible not bran name. As example, Peecee is accepted, but not Ibm, Mac or Amiga.
Flowers, animal and name from another language are accepted as well. You can’t use a name that we don’t know the meaning of. One of our staff is an expert in searching the net, so she can find out lot of thing. Name won’t be refuse for light motif.
Be creative!
Your Wizard.
- Giving a family name
Often, the family name is relative of the work or business your family is, the street or the town you live in. For the sanity of everybody, we left them in plain English.
So John Tailor-Barrubh is very acceptable and inside your town, you will just be called John Tailor. Even if you are an actor, if your whole family is in Tailor business, there you go!
Get loose with that ingenuity!
Your Wizard
