Learning our history.
Calendar
This section is about our sacred
calendar. There is still considerable debate over the "correct" Mexica caledar correlation. The most common correlation used is by Alfonso Caso. Understand that the Mexica and Maya calendric systems both used a 365-day solar year format, and within that was another 260-day calendar system. The calemdar system goes back at least to our Olmec ancestors.
Please keep in mind that our sacred calendar
regulated every aspect of our group life. It started out as a way to tell us when to plant and harvest our crops. From there, it became more and more elaborate, but always connected us with the cycles of nature. It should NOT
be used superstitiously like Tarot Cards or a horoscope.
