CNN's Pele's League

Week 2

News and Notes - September 10th
by Carlos Curro, Sao Paulo 55ers owner

As the first year of the Pele's League continues to develop, there are still three teams undefeated after Week 2 action. Let's check the results.

The most dangerous team in the league right now is undoubtedly the PIMP C's REAL G'S. Not satisfied with a smashing victory in Week 1 when they scored 90 points, the REAL G'S (2-0) scored 76 this week and destroyed the Randolph Blue Devils (0-2), whose coach appears to be sleeping, as they again started Mark Brunell at QB and scored a total of only 11 fantasy points. The G's were again led by Drew Bledsoe and his 29 points.

The Sao Paulo 55ers are also 2-0 after a win over another Sao Paulo team, 56-49 over the Sao Paulo CCM, who dropped now to 0-2. The close win was determined by good performances by RB Natrone Means and WR Carl Pickens.

The last undefeated team also comes from Sao Paulo city, as the Sao Paulo Hard Plays defeated the San Juan Coquis, 61-20. QB Brad Johnson and RB Curtis Martin helped put this game away for the Hard Plays (2-0), and the struggle by the Coquis (1-1) offense also helped a lot, as QB Troy Aikman couldn't match his week 1 performance.

But the last 0-2 team also comes from Sao Paulo. The Sao Paulo Golpes Baixos lost a close game against the Cortland, NY Gradams Greats, 44-41. The "X" factor of this game was the TmD Bonus (fewest yards allowed) of +6 points in favor of the Gradams Greats, who improved now to 1-1, leaving the Golpes Baixos still winningless.

Closing this week's matchups, the Ithaca Isolators beat the Oporto Eagles also in a close finish, 69-61. The Isolators (1-1) came from behind to win, thanks to a 15-point performance by TE Rickey Dudley on Monday Night, setting up their first win of the season, while the Eagles suffered their first loss (1-1).
