CASE HISTORY:
In every generation, there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer.

Unlike most Slayers, Buffy's first Watcher could not locate her until she was sixteen years old. As a result, she received a normal valley-girl upbringing and... well, this happened:

"When I first met you, Buffy, I realized the Slayer handbook would be of no use in your case..."
"My case? What's wrong with my case?"

Well, whatever Giles thinks of Buffy as a Slayer, he loves her as he would a daughter. He always does his best to be a good Watcher, providing guidance and information and protecting Buffy from dangers, whether Buffy agrees or not! It has been said that Buffy is a slayer of unusual power, though whether that is because she is who she is or because she lives and works on the Hellmouth is yet uncertain.

The life of a Slayer is very lonely. Even surrounding herself with friends who know who and what she is, Buffy still dreams of, someday, not being the Slayer; a very optimistic dream, considering that Slayers rarely live into their twenties. Cliffnotes Version: Buffy wants a normal life.

Unfortunately, that doesn't look to be happening any time soon. Due to the.... er... circumstances (let's leave it at that, shall we?) after her seventeenth birthday, being the Chosen One has become harder, swallowing up more and more of Buffy's life. She spent an entire summer trying to run from being the Slayer, only to have it come around and hit her in the face. Well, she's done a good job of finding her balance again, though the loss of Angel was hard to take.
