HaT's War Elephants

A Review

The webmaster at HaT ever so kindly sent me these test "shots" of their new Eephants. I actually had them before they were released, but I haven't had the time to finish this until now, when they are already out. Ah well, better late than never.

HaT #8023, Elephants

HaT #8021 - Elephants

(Box art copyright Hat - reproduced with kind permision)

HaT #8023 - Elephants

#8023 Elephants contains three [identical] sprues with:

  • HaT #8023 - Elephants  Two of these elephants, and seperate howdahs (which means you can make Cart or Numidian elephants depending on what you're after). Although this shot doesn't show it, you get two different poses; and of course, you also get the Mahout's to drive the beasties.

  • HaT #8023 - Crew  two Carthaginian Spearmen to drive off the opposition. Well, I guess their ideal would be to do a little more than just drive them off!
  • HaT #8023 - Standard Bearers  two Carthaginian Standard Bearers to show the flag, so to speak, from each howdah.

on each sprue. So that'd make 6 elephants per box - 6 El elements. Great for Later Carthaginian and Numidian (and I guess even Early Imperial Roman - you are allowed one El(I) element after all!) DBM armies.

Click here and here for some painted examples from the HaT site.

(Also, have a look at HaT's Carthaginians, and their Polyibian Romans opponents, Roman Artillery as well as their associated Ancient Cavalry.)
