HaT's Roman Catapults

A Review

And here are the last of HaT's Punic War sets (so far). I would have had this finished earlier, but I wasn't happy with the digital photo's that I took of the test sprue that was sent me, so I scanned this production sprue instead. Much better result.

Interestingly, the test shots were in grey plastic (like the elephants), but these production numbers are in silver and I think the plastic may be a little harder...

HaT #8035 - Roman Catapults

#8035 Roman Artillery contains four [identical] sprues containing:

on each sprue. So that'd make 4 artillery elements per box (including crew), 4 standard bearers (that you can place with the artillery, or your Princeps or even with your Early Imperial Roman Legionaries or Auxilia for that matter!) plus 6 25mm psiloi elments (the Viletes) and, well, 1 ½ blade elements (the Hastati).

Overall, the art and 20mm figures are excellent. And, for that matter, the 25mm figures look good too, it's just, well, they aren't an whole lot of use, due to their size, and the fact that the figures have already been produced in 20mm (HaT #8018). Still...

Have a look at some painted examples from HaT's site here and here.

(Also, have a look at my reviews of HaT's Carthaginians, and their Polyibian Romans opponents, their associated Ancient Cavalry, as well as HaT's War Elephants.)
