My first most enduring and endearing impressions of India, beyond the overwhelming numbers of people in its city streets, were of the onslaught on all of my senses. Unfortunately, although the technology is in the pipeline, I can't capture within these pages the tastes and smells of India, impressive though these are in their own right. Nor can I provide samples of the wonderful textures of handicrafts, fabrics and and other artifacts. Although the focus of the learning & teaching that follow is in the sounds of India, particularly in its music, I hope the pages will also give some sense of the colour and of India's sensory impact. Click on these Indian 'sound samples'. What do you hear? 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
