Since I began speaking out against the Confederate flag's display upon state capitols and public property, I have received numerous replies. Often these are from people who endeavor to attack my character, my intelligence or my very existence. It seems that this is a very emotional subject with what I like to call rebel nuts.
Rebel nuts are nuts about everything related to the American Civil War and the Confederacy. They dress up in Civil War costumes, fully armed with period firearms and reenact Civil War battles. It is as if they actually believe that if they refight these battles long enough the South will win the Civil War.
These rebel nuts love pretending that they are alive in another time. They believe that by parading around in Civil War uniforms and shooting black powder rifles they will honor their ancestors who died in that horrible war. It seems almost as if in pretending to live in the past their brains have reverted to a level of ignorance typical of the times!
These rebel nuts will preach to you that slavery was not the cause of the Civil War. They believe that Confederate flags should be honored and glorified while spitting upon the American flag. Somehow it does not occur to them that not a single slave ship would have ever sailed if their ancestors had refused the purchase of slaves.
There simply is no justification for slavery and the role our ancestors played in support of that immoral institution should not be celebrated, but should be ridiculed and shunned. Also we should no longer glorify those who rebelled against our Union, whether it was to preserve slavery or to form a separate nation. Such rebellion was the ultimate act of treason and the Confederate flag in all its forms is a symbol of that treason.
Least we want our sons and daughters to forever live in the past, least we want our children to be rebel nuts, lost to a bygone time, forever fighting a war that their ancestors lost, then we should no longer display Confederate flags in public, build new memorial to Confederate soldiers or give any further honor to those who sought to divide, rather than preserve, our Union. In fact the greatest honor rebel nuts could do for their ancestors is to lay down their arms, surrender their weapons, burn their Confederate flags and rejoin the Union!
Strangely rebel nuts relish in refighting the Civil War, but they rarely, if ever, reenact surrendering, being made prisoners of war or swearing allegiance to the Union upon being set free after the war. It is as if these rebel nuts are haunted by ghosts which can never stop fighting for a lost cause, not until the day they die themselves and join their ancestors in the rot, decay and eternal damnation of the fires of Hell they earned by making war. Why there is no beast nor man lower upon the Earth than a rebel nut who plays, follies and worships war!
Unto these rebel nuts I have addressed a special letter lumping them in that great dung heap of rebel nut crap. In this manner I have wiped my boots clean of that filth of the Earth which has so defiled our great Union. I urge others to do the same and have nothing to do with anyone who does dishonor or disservice to our great nation, these United States of America!
