Name: Kelly
Glover
Age:
15
Duty:
Maid
of Honor
Location:
Murfreesboro,
TN
Story:
I
was always one of those kids who could
not go to sleep, afraid of the dark
and of the monsters under the bed. My
mom would always tell me to think of
something happy so I would not be afraid
and I would always think of having a
little brother or sister to play with.
I finally got my wish when I was 8 years
old and Kelly was born. There is a photo
of us that is a little over two years
old. I was waiting for Joe to come and
pick me up for one of our first dates,
and on a whim decided to take a picture
of Kelly and me together. That photo
is how I see Kelly, still a little girl,
a few inches shorter than me and in
all senses of the word my little sister.
A more recent photo of us would tell
a different story. She's no longer a
little girl and now it is I who stands
several inches shorter.
Kelly
and I have always been close and this
surprises many people, considering our
age difference. The past few years I
have missed out on her growing up and
I did not like not being a role in it.
That was part of the reason I wanted
to move to Murfreesboro. So really,
there was never a question who would
be my Maid of Honor. I also expect that
she will sing at some point of the wedding,
probably during the reception. Watching
her on stage always makes me cry; it
is just hard to believe that she is
the same baby sister that I once dreamed
and hoped for.

Name:
Kristy
Krotzer
Age:
23
Duty:
Bride's
Maid
Location:
Martin,
TN
Story:
Kristy
and I met at church when we were
around 12 years old. In fact, that
was one of the things that made
and kept us close, our faith and
common beliefs. (We both were also
really into boys!) From 7th grade
throughout high school we were pretty
much inseparable. Our birthdays
are within 6 days of each other
and I can't think of one during
that time that we did not celebrate
together; from a mixed-up dinner
party to the hay-ride our Senior
year.
Kristy
and I have been planning our weddings
together for as long as we have
been friends. Although the perspective
groom changed many times, one thing
always remained the same, that Kristy
would be a bridesmaid in my wedding.
It is just hard to believe that
the time for her to fulfill this
duty has come.

Name:
Michelle
Jacobellis
Age:
21
Duty:
Bride's
Maid
Location:
Orlando,
FL
Story:
Michelle
is Joe's younger sister. We first
met during Christmas-break in 1998
when I went to visit Joe and meet
his family in New Hampshire. Last
August, Michelle moved to Orlando
and we became roommates. It was a
lot of fun. I learned so much about
Joe from her. And when Joe wanted
to talk about Superman, it was great
to have her there to take up my conversational
slack! (I'm not to up on my superheroes!)
Throughout
the past year the three of us were
like a little family. We watched Iron
Chef, went out to eat, went to movies,
went out to eat, traveled to Grandma
Jacobellises in Tampa to escape Hurricane
Floyd, went out to eat, and survived
the Great Condo Flood-, which just
happened to take place while we were
al out to eat! I know that one day
the three of us will look back on
this time of our lives with fondness
and laughter. Joe and I really miss
having Michelle around!

Name:
Daphne
Velez
Age:
22
Duty:
Bride's
Maid
Location:
Orlando,
FL
Story:
Daphne
and I met a little over 3 years
ago in an education class. We
actually had two classes together
that semester. We soon found
out that we also were both English
Ed. Majors and members of the
Honors College. (We would not
find out how rare it was to
both be members of the latter
until graduation when the Honors
College members were asked to
stand up and there were only
3 people standing and we were
two of them!) We became partners
for a project in class and we
both taught Junior Achievement
for the same teacher, and we
became friends. We had many
more classes and projects together
over the next three years. Later
on I met Shannon Riordan ( now
Shannon Hicks) in my Literary
Criticism class and then Shannon
and Daphne met and the three
of us were English Ed. Geeks
together. We turned to each
other when our respective boyfriends
and fiancees were tired of listening
to us talk about English. Shannon
got married last December and
now lives in Brazil. We threw
her a wedding shower, a first
for both of us, and it was a
lot of fun! Daphne and I both
love her and miss her very much.
Daphne
and I were neighbors during
our last year of college. We
exchanged a lot of teaching
materials and stories about
our internships and our lives.
She took me in during the flood
and we were roommates for a
little over a month. It turned
out to be a lot of fun. I look
forward to our lifelong friendship.
