Johnny Thunder, Professor Kilroy and Miss Pippin Read
is arriving at
the ancient fortress in their half-track. But Mr. Hates has beat them
to
it and has already made an agreement with the Emperor. But which side
will
Jing Lee join? Will that decide who will find the Golden Dragon? The
adventurers
make their way into the fortress, only to be trapped! It takes all
their
wits and courage to escape from Mr. Hates and the evil emperor Chang
Wu.
How will they get past the Wanderer? Using the three treasures they
have
already collected - the Golden Shield from the Scorpion Palace, the
Golden
Sword from the Temple of Mount Everest, and the Golden Helmet they find
inside the Dragon Fortress - Johnny Thunder and his friends succeed in
finding Marco Polo's greatest treasure: the Golden Dragon! |
Appearance
This is the top set of the Orient Expedition line and it is truly
impressive.
It is one of the tallest constructions yet. And it has a fine blend of
tan, red and sand green. This will be one of my favorite Orient sets!
Besides
the ugly half-track the only thing the detracts is the use of a raised
baseplate and not slopes for the base.
Construction
This fortress is based on the same baseplate as used in 5986.
That is a petty - I had hoped for something more in the line of 6093
and
6089 from the Ninja line. It would have been very nice with more of the
sloped pieces with stone printing. The two guards have a new kind of
halbard!
Playability
One can only guess how many trapdoors, falling axes, spears and other
nastiness is hidden inside this fortress. Besides the Golden Dragon of
course!
