THE SHIRE, Middle Earth—Hello there. This is Samwise Gamgee here and I am writing this week's journal on the Dom-Land computer. I'm not rightly up to date on these new fangled things if you take my meaning so hopefully I won't press the wrong bit and make it blow up. Bubbles would be upset some thing awful. So this is me on Halloween. All the kids in the Shire were on about this pirate film at the Shire Cinema. I've taken little Elanor to see it seven times. She's quite taken with that Will Turner fellow, even though she says Mr. Frodo is still her most favorite non relation. I reckon a lot of the Shire girls feel the same because of all that giggling and squealing. Almost shameful the way they carry on if you ask me. About that Will Turner I mean. Not Mr. Frodo.

So little Elanor wanted to dress up like Elizabeth for Halloween and since it was my year to take all the little ones trick o treating she wanted me to dress up too. Well I wouldn't feel rightly dressing up as a matinee idol, being a married man and all, so Rosie said she'd figure a way to make a re creation of the Captain Jack Sparrow. She emailed Legolas for specific details and advice on the exact nature of the out fit. I guess he was a big help but we still had to go back to the cinema two more times.

I feel rightly foolish in this thing.

I almost wasn't going to go out side in this get up. Especialy when Mr. Frodo laughed at me. (Mr. Frodo usually hands out the candy with his hand with the missing finger. It really scares the kids.) It would have been worse but I put my foot down when they wanted to put black make up on me. Imagine! And I wasn't going to wear no face hair neither. Nearly killed myself getting my feet into them shoes. Hobbits weren't meant to wear shoes and no mistake!

But the kids loved it. So it was all right I suppose.

(Bubbles note: I REALLY wanted to make a Capt. Jack Sparrow Halloween costume this year, but for a variety of reasons—all of them good—I didn't get the chance. So this week, I've finally made my Capt. Jack Sparrow Halloween costume and I didn't have to jab myself in the fingers with sewing needles in the process. Whee!)
