Amber is the place of which all other places are mere Shadows and distorted reflections. A Grand Land, of blue skies, green seas, and the huge merchant navy, which plies its trade throughout all the Shadows of the cosmos under Gerard, Prince and Admiral.
The Lord Protector and Commander in Chief of Amber's armies is Prince Benedict, undefeated in a million battles. Defeated in quite a few as well, mark you.
Amber's chief power is as the head of the trading bloc which is the Golden Circle. Flora is believed to have a hand in administrating the Circle's smooth running.
Currently, Amber is plague-ridden and emptied of all but the dying. Amber Castle itself lies in ruins, and Arden, Julian's forest, has been swept by forest fires. The town, which once held a million inhabitants, is empty except for rats and dogs. The only other surviving erlder family member is Bleys, if rumour is to be believed.
