A Little About Me
My name is Angel. I am a 29 year old Lesbian. I have been with my girlfriend since September 13th 1997. I met her at a little local bar here in Springfield, Missouri called The Gallery. I arrived in town September 1st with my friends Matt and Star. I managed to live at the Ramones after bar party castle for approximatly 3 days before I was completely out of my head. I asked one of my roomates there , Pony, where the nearest gay bar was and he gave me the directions there. I am glad he did or I'd have never meet the wonderful woman that is now the LOVE of my LIFE. That would be Dawn. I met her as she was singing karaoke. She had such a beautiful voice. Never in my life did I think I would ever meet someone whom I could share this talent with. Baby you ROCK =). Anywho, we had a couple drinks, talked awhile, complementing each other on our singing, exchanged phone numbers, and well it went great from there. We spent every waking moment together. For about 2 months everything was perfect 'til I got spooked at how special and how close she was getting to my heart and I ran. To Florida I might add. I never told her a word. I wrote my folks that I was homesick. (Which I was), got a bus ticket, and left at 4am the next day. I had told her I needed some space to think for awhile, so while she wasn't there I had the oppurtunity to run and not have to face her. I never could have explained to her face. I left her a small note with about as little explaination as made any sense at all and I split. I got off the bus in florida, and had lunch with my parents, who live there, after they had picked me up at the bus station. By the time I walked in the door at my folks house, SHE was on the phone. Well, I got ripped a new ***hole(I deserved that). I didn't know what to do with all this. To explain what I mean, I wasn't exactly "out" to the folks quite yet, was still married to my husband (We were seperated for a few years though), and had come up to Springfield looking for my boyfriend (Who was a flake to begin with. What was I thinking?). Anyway, to say the least I was terribly confused. Everything went really fast for Dawn and I. It was love at first sight, I'm sure. I just had so many open doors that needed to be shut, and a closet door that was still barred and chained in regards to my folks. YIKES!!! I loved her yes, but.... OK I know you think I'm a horrible person. "How could you leave her hanging like that?!" & "What the HELL is wrong with you?!". I got scared. Thats the best I can explain. Anyway, she found me quick, thanks to my friends Star and Matt who knew my folks last name and addy and Dawn looked me up in the book. Well 2 months and many many phone conversations and letters (that I still have) later, she came to Florida. We lived there together 'til April 1998 and then came back to Springfield. (Don't ask why) Well, she did miss her family and friends. So here we are and have been in this god awful...LOL...apartment ever since. I have to say I am lucky she was so much stonger than I. She told me I needed to come out to my folks "I'm not gonna be your dirty little secret" she said. She was right. I did. I can't say things have been real easy in that respect, but since I told them, my parents and I had a good fight recently and now they seem to want to understand. At least my father does anyway. My mom is not quite sure what to do right now. They do love me still though. Sometimes there is no way to know how they'll take it unless you give them a chance. This is WHO you are. Not just about WHO you are sleeping with. For those of you that think staying in the closet is a good thing. You are wrong. You are not helping anyone, especially not yourself by hiding from yourself. Visibility is the KEY, and no one is going to get used to the idea that "We Are EVERYWHERE" until we show them. OK I'll stop there. For now anyway. Please, for your sake though. Never give up
