Updates

December 4, 2004

How exciting! Not only does Fakephoenix turn 2 years old this month, but this site has just passed 40,000 hits! Wow! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine this site would be so successful. ^_^ How wonderful.

New for this update is... the Holiday Version! *cheers* I don't know about y'all but I was getting pretty tired of blue and Ryo in a wreath is a good replacement anyday. Fanfiction for this update is all by Sonata: First Date and Another Kiss. Also announcing the kickoff of the Holiday Fanfiction Contest! Be sure to go over and check it out if you love to write!

It is with great pride I announce that, as of this update Fakephoenix is now the proud owner of a sound clipping from the Fake: Final Act Drama CD that consists of one and only one thing: the steamy lemon scene of Act 19! *cheers and throws yaoi confetti* Prepare to be thrilled for this fanservice is most definately of R quality (now, if we could see it might even push into the NC-17s, but sadly only the manga can help us with that.) Also, there is a new CD featured under the "Music" samplings - "Fiction" by Yuki Kajiura, the composer of .//hack and the like. Be sure to check that out!

It is with great sorrow that I announce I will be selling my two Fake drama CDs on Ebay during the next month as well as some rare doujinshi (none Fake, I'm afraid), pencilboards, and even some of my anime collection. Why? Because I need money like none other. Why? Well, food is one thing. Money for college tuition for next semester is another. So it is with deep sorrow I part with my treasures. However, I trust they will end up with someone out there who loves Fake just as much as I do. Go here to see how the auctions are going and maybe bid yourself. *wink wink nudge nudge*

Many thanks to everyone who signed the guestbook: Donna Co, Siobhan Lyons, Kimmy-chan, Kaia, Jack, Leanne, xix19, readx0r, and Ren. I love you guys with all my heart and soul. *huggles*

....
October 22, 2004
Hey guys, thanks for sticking with me. Stupid me forgot to update before school got started, and what with being a masochistic double-major starting my junior year... let's just say the time never presented itself. But now I'm sick so I have some free time! *cheers then coughs*

Quite a few updates this time around. First and most importantly: Phoenix is proud to announce the three winners of the Summer Fic Contest! "Most Fun" goes to Stuck in the Middle With You by Nightstalker1 and Lady Dragonphire. "Best Lemon" is claimed by Just a Nibble by NeekerBreeker. And the final award, "Most Original", goes to Into the Woods by happyberry. Many thanks to everyone who submitted - there were some very wonderful fics that were just as fantastic. If your fic did not win a prize but you still want it posted on Fakephoenix, please email me and I'll be more than happy to oblige. One note though - I wasn't able to read two submissions because they were in .rtf format which my computer can't read. Please .doc, .html, or .txt attachments only please. ^_^

Other updates in the fanfiction section: Common Ground Part 8 (and Part 7 is fixed and complete) by NeekerBreeker, one of my absolute favorite fics of all time; Blue Period by newcomer aplaceinthestars; and I'll Be, Games, and Truth or Dare by newcomer Sonata. Check them out! Others who have submitted fics longer than 3 parts be patient - I'm on the limits of my bandwith so I'll have to do a little reshuffling to find room, but they'll be posted as soon as I find time and space. ^_^¡ Speaking of bandwith, the 'Misc.' gallery is down right now because I had to delete the pics to upload the new fiction. I have a friend who agreed to share her webspace so the page should be back up by next update, which will probably be when I next get the luxury of sickdays. Keep sending that fanfiction! Most impressive of all: I updated the links page. Pathetic, I know, but it was starting to collect dust, plus there was no scanlation section. How can you run a scanlation page without linking to other scanlations? It's mandatory!

Finally, thank you to the dozens of you who have signed the guestbook. Every entry makes me feel warm and fuzzy. ^_^ Love you! As a token of my esteem, I offer up this brilliant little piece of work to all you Jack/Will PotC fans. (slash warning) .... How did they do that? *drools*

Oh the horror at lack of updates...
June 30, 2004
I'm back. Again again. Sorry for the lull in updates - April and May were the months of exams and papers, and my summer job is counciling at a kid's camp that has no internet. -_- Siiigh... Currently I am having my three-day break, and then it's back to the barracks. I won't be free again until August, but I have a few things to tie all you Fake lovers over!

First of all, we have three new fanfics! Woot woot! First off is Tadaima, a oneshot reflection by Dragonflower1 (submitted late March. My apologies...) Next, give a welcome to new author Sam and check out her fic A Life Unlived! And finally, I belatedly present to you Chaper 7 of NeekerBreeker's 'Common Ground'. NB, I know I'm not one to talk, but if you don't churn out the next chapter soon I *swear* I will hunt you down and subject you to JJ torture.... *sniffles* How *dare* you end the chapter there?!?!?

Another important addition is the Summer Fanfiction Contest! Can you hold a pen? Can you take that pen and write words? Wonderful! If thou art capable of penmanship, thou art a prime candidate for creating thy own fanfiction! What are you waiting for- go over and check it out. All fics are welcome, from beginners to established authors. Fire away!

Finally, thank you to *everyone* who signed the guestbook. There are so many of you this time that I can't list them all without taking up a ridiculous amount of the page, but that doesn't make you any less important. I still treasure every comment I get, even if they occasionally leave me a little singed. ^_~

Snog!
March 30, 2004
Well, I've got several spectacular updates for this installment! First of all, and perhaps most importantly, Like Like Love, the prologue to Fake, has been scanlated! Everyone be sure to thank Nameless for submitting her scanlation- it's bound to make many rabid fans happy to find out who ends up with who. Second, another page has been added to Act 20. I know, you're thinking "just one measley page?!" but I swear more are coming! Third, an entire new section has been added under the Fake Gallery- screenshots from the anime. Fourth, two new challenges have been added. And finally, a new fic, Candy Hearts by Buffy, which takes a new spin on Dee's past and his relationship with Arnon. Be sure to check it out!

This is the part where I laugh nervously. Why? Because I am now officially completely out of file space and I don't have cash to buy more. *siiiigh* I'll figure something out... Oh, and I figured out how to trick my new web browser into letting me upload pictures, but I still can't get the mp3s working. Grr....

A mighty thanks to Joseph (Duzell), ME!, Miko-chan, C. Ravenlocke, Jes, and Mercgurl for taking time to sign the guestbook! A few comments to the signees: to Miko-chan- I think you'll like this update, C. Ravenlocke- I look forward to any fanfiction you toss my way, Joseph- I do all the translating/scanlating myself with the exception of the Like Like Love translation up on this site but I don't write fanfiction (I have too little free time- I plan to someday though), and ME!- in Like Like Love you will see part of how Berkeley and Diana get together- the rest is spread throughout the series, especially volumes 3 and 7 if I remember correctly. Once again, thank you so much for your support and kind words! It means the world to me. ^_^ Really.

Whoops... er... Hi? = Caught in the act
March 20, 2004
Once again new fanfiction has arrived at Fakephoenix, this time courtesy of Swordy. Be sure to check out the tales: First Impressions, which recounts Ryo and Dee's first impressions of each other, Dance With Me, New Year's from Dee's pov, Good for the Soul, a lemon dealing with Ryo, Dee, and Bikky's principal's desk, and Away From Home, another lemon in which Dee finds companionship (and more) from a stranger at a bar. Everyone be sure to thank Swordy for contributing more of her wonderful work, and if you are not already familiar with it give it a read. You won't be disappointed.

I will be visiting my folks for the next week, so no updates for a while. I'm going to take it as an opportunity to relax and get back on my feet- I've been almost sloppy dealing with this site in the past month (I lost a submission and 2 email addresses... Sorry...) Hopefully the down time will rejuvenate me and April will yield much more than the past few months have. I plan to (finally) finish the Act 20 scanlation and revamp the Fake gallery, including some pictures from the OVA as there aren't any at the moment. I'm also trying to figure out how to upload new mp3s- I know that my new web browser (Safari) has something to do with the mp3 files refusing to upload, but I can't find exactly what is wrong...

A cuddle-glomp to everyone who took time to sign the guestbook: ix of 6ix, aspiker, Murzich, Fujimura Yuki, Jay De La Cruz, Alexes, Shinashi or Nashi-chan, Misty-chan, Evee, and Nameless. Your feedback gives me the inspiration to stick with this site, through bad and good. Thank you. ^_^

March 13, 2004
22,000 hits!!! Wow. I am impressed, especially since it was little over a year ago when this site was receiving one hit every week or so... Look, JJ's kissing Drake in celebration! *points to picture and cackles* Don't they make a great couple?

First up- two new fanfics! If you fancy a slightly sadistic Berkeley and an angsting Ryo, head over to Tea and Sympathy by Dragonflower1. If a heavily NC-17 lemon is more your taste, visit newcomer happyberry's Anniversary Present. Both are wonderful new additions to the fanfiction archive.

The long-awaited Valentine's Day Contest results are up! Visit the contest page to find out who won!

Finally, I would like to apologize for the terribly long wait, but I've had... things happen. If you really want to know, read part of the rant I ended up posting on the FML a while ago. My apologies if it is rather pessimistic and faulty in grammar...

Thanks to jean, ix of 6ix, BeeBee, Stephy-sama, Kit, Rain, Kiki, Riho, Dutchie, Svetlana, kart, Aikyo, and Mai Lynn for signing the guestbook. (Maybe I should start calling it something else... like the FakeBook, or the Phoenix Book, or the precinct ledger... O_o¡ ) I love you all!

Hatsuharu!!
Februrary 17, 2004
The Valentine's Day Contest is over! I want to thank each and every person that donated a fanfic to the Valentine’s Day Contest. So many of you responded! ^_^ There was a grand total of 11 fics submitted- more than twice what I expected. Thank you and a big loving glomp to everyone who wrote in.

I’ll try to have the winners announced by this weekend. There will be a Grand Prize (a/k/a the Big One) and three subcategory winners (best lemon, sappiest, etc) because Phoenix and her cronies have the premonition that it will be hard to narrow it down. I would have the contest winners announced earlier, but classes are being more cruel than ever and what little free time I once had has completely evaporated.

As for technical stuff.... yahoo briefcases still won't let me upload mp3s *fumes* and I'm considering starting an invision chat board on this site. The only problem is I don't have any idea how to work the software and I don't have the time to learn. Sooo if anyone out there is knowledgable about invisionfree chat boards and wouldn't mind donating a few hours to get one up and running, email me I will love you forever.

Huggles to ix of 6ix, brucemugu, Luna, Heather, Nameless, DeathSprite, Marruben, cricket, and jill for taking time to sign the guestbook! ^_^

Oh the horror...
Februrary 2, 2004
I'm back. Again. This is becoming pattern, isn't it? Sorry guys, I seriously planned to start working on this site again but on the 19th I had something really really terrible happen. If you know me you'll know what I'm talking about. Otherwise I'm not at liberty to say... But what matters is I'm back. That story's for another time.

New this update: the Valentine's Day Fake Fanfiction Contest! Calling all authors- send in your Cupid Day fics! Also, a spanking brand new fanfiction by newcomer Dragonflower1: Bonsai. Check it out- it's one of the best Fake fics I've ever read! New mp3s are still in the making- it still won't let me upload, curse it...

A soul-felt glomp to ix of 6ix (your multiple entries make my day ^_^), Meri, Wolfie, Liz, Nevyn Slash, Rainy-chan, Lyran, Bunny Nannette, MJ, just me, little youkai, Kayla, and jill for signing the guestbook. I appreciate the feedback more than I can express. Answering a few questions (as I don't have time to send out individual emails): 1) I have no idea if Tokyopop's version is visually edited. I haven't read it and don't plan to anytime soon. Well, actually I read the first book but the translation made me cringe so badly... tell you what- I'll borrow my friend's Tokyopop releases, page through them, and get back to you about it. 2) I do not know if Tokyopop will edit the final acts. It's possible they may cut them out all together. However, they are also releasing several hentai titles (ex- Happy Mania, Battle Royal) that are simply sold wrapped in plastic. Could be either. We'll just have to wait and see. 3) Fake was originally released from 1993 to 2000. So if you think Tokyopop's english release is taking a long time I'd hate to thing what it would be like waiting for the original which averaged one volume per year. ^_~ Just an amusing reflection.

Orcs! Twang twang!
January 17, 2004
Ha ha! I'm back! To make a long story short, my computer died, I got a new one and discovered that my modem had died, and then had to fix that. -_- But it's over now, and I've got quite a bit of catching up to do, soo....

First up- I've added two new wallpapers to the collection, one of Ryo (finally!) and one Saiyuki. There's also the first donated wallpaper there, featuring every kiss in Fake, courtesy of Wildefyre! *cheers* Go check them out!

Second- more fanfiction! Chapter 6 of NeekerBreeker's Common Ground is finally up, along with Defrosting, a brand new whalloping DrakexJJ pwp. Everyone be sure to thank NeekerBreeker for the yummy lemons! Wildefyre has donated another fic, When Ryo?, which has enough sap to knock a tree over. And I say that as a good thing. ^_~

Finally, I was going to add some new songs but for some reason they won't upload, so that will have to wait for the next update. Which I plan to be within a week. I've been without internet for too long. Saaay, has anyone out there seen Return of the King? I got to see it on the premire night and it was *beautiful*. *cackles evilly* Yup, just thought I'd mention that. Lord of the Rings is demigod.

Thank you to *takes in deep deep breath* Redrum, ix of 6ix, BPurg, shannon, Irish, Liz, Lady Yossarian, Lys, June, Rose, Cynthia, Meg, Ariel, Allie, Kamadake-Ko, Aja, Kay, Narusegawa Megumi, Storm Elf, Jenn, Maria, Kapu Arashi Yamashi&Tatami, Ningi, Inari K, koneko-chan, Aiaru, skaelyr, Ann, Rain, DM-San, Rodarian, RikuNghts, Eddo, Chaz, Shiara, Confetti, Alanna, kalile, Kari, Ronya, aaand Team Rocket boy Babylon for signing the guestbook. *stares wide-eyed at long list* So many... then again it has been a while... then again, so many.... so much encouragement... *breaks down into tears of joy* I love you all! Thank you for your feedback! *glomps*

f*ck you, computer virus!!!
November 27, 2003
Eh... well.... it turns out that wasn't just an internet bug on my computer. It's dead as a doornail and I don't quite have funds for a new one. *sweatdrop* I'm hoping the end-of-year holidays bring me a new one, but until then... Friend Rachel is allowing me to update off of her computer until I get my life fixed. Thank you, Rai-chan! *glomps*

The music section is fixed! Not only do all the links work, but there are two new songs from Cowboy Bebop the Movie! Whoopie! I'm working on getting some of the drama tracks up, but I can't guarentee anything at the moment.

And most importantly: Act 20 has not one, not two, but *seven* more translated pages up! Still not finished, and possible errors and lack of flow in the trans right now (my computer took the files down with it, so I had to redo everything...) but what matters is it's up! Thank you so much for your patience... two months is one heck of a long time to hold out.

Many thanks to Lauren, Heather, Linda G, tehlorri, usagi, KJ, Raver, Sarah, Lizz, Kate, DrkWyrm, FireDrake, Karie, Lady Yossarian, pixiestix, Eska, Christine, BPurg, and Marlies for taking time out to sign the guestbook. There are so many of you... but then again it's been a while. Feedback is one thing that will make me keep going, even if it's such extreme measures as kidnapping Friend Rachel's computer. *cough*cough* Thanks guys! ^_^

Quick Minute Update October 12, 2003
Well, it finally happened. My computer caught a virus from the net and completely died on me. -_- Currently I am updating from the campus library just so you know why the hell the scanlations are not finished. I swear it's not my fault. *sobs* Now I have to wait to get enough money to get it fixed and/or harrass a random smart-looking person walking into the technology dormitory into fixing it. *sigh* Of all times it decided to catch a virus.... Hopefully I'll be back online and running within a week. Otherwise I swear I'm going to die of internet-withdrawl.

10,000 HITS!!! Woo-hoo!!! Up with Fake and Yaoi! *recieves golden Yaoi Oscar award* Oh, happy day! In the likelyhood of soundy cheezy, I'd like to thank all my visitors, and all the people they directed here. **Send More** Eh heh heh... I'll do something in celebration next update- right now I'm pressed for time.

Chapter 5 is up in NeekerBreeker's Common Ground fan fiction! Drake and JJ- yay! Someone asked me if they really are a couple in the manga- my answer can be seen to the left of this text. *evil smirk* Yes, Sanami Matoh does officially pair Drake and JJ up in her prologue to Fake, "Like, Like, Love" which I may be posting eventually if I can convince my friend to lend me Color again for another session with my scanner. The emphasis being "can". Some people out there are as stubborn as mules, and higher deities above bless them. ^_^

I'm afraid that's all for this update. My schedual has been wreaking havoc and my sanity is only inches away from snapping for good. *pulls out katana. swirly clouds of blackness surround and d-e-a-t-h is spelled out over head* Evil lab report. I've worked on it nonstop for three days and I'm still seven pages away from finishing. What does the instructor think I am?! Some super-powered android? I give up... *sigh*

Thankies to BPurg, Kat, Darlean, alya, Liz, Akira Urameshi, and ix of 6ix for signing the fakebook. Wow, there are so many of you this time! *very very happy bliss* I love you all! *dies of emotional overload* Xo

Anime Convention Hangover
September 23, 2003
I never thought it was possible to get an anime hangover, but now I know better. Although now that I think about it, it could have also been the fact I got only 3 hours of sleep over the entirety of the con (3 days). Nan Desu Kan was great! They showed a bit too much robot anime for my liking, but they also had a helluva lot more shounen-ai series. The one complaint I have is the yaoi doujishi I bought. They had the red sticker of censorship on them and yet they weren't even hardcore. Hell, they barely passed as shounen-ai! *sniffles* So cruel.... ¡_¡

Okay, the update! There are now three fanfics on Fakephoenix! **cheers** And I'm spent, so there may not be any update for a week or so. Not doing any studying or homework for three days and ditching a day of classes for a con increases homework load tenfold, I swear. x.x I'll update as soon as I can breathe. And thank you soooo much to the authors who donated their fic to this page. You guys are my heros!

Thanks to AngelVixen, Schalablues, and Lady Yossarian for signing Ye Guestbook. I'd give you candy but now I'm officially broke. Anime con dealer rooms tend to do that to you. ^_^¡

Orcs! Twang twang!
September 17, 2003
Huzzah! I finally got enough money to reserve a copy of the extended edition of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. *glows* I can't wait until it comes out!

Well, I finally have the scanlation of
Act 19 up and running! Sorry it took so long, but most of the time spent translating this was on the last page where there are two kanji I don't know... and therefore was unable to translate. So I decided to post the act without translating that line and come back to it in the future when I find out what the heck it is. Eh he he... My apologies. ^^¡

I've decided it will be more... economical... to post the scanlations by page instead of act. It will save me stress factor, and you won't have to wait quite as long between updates. So Act 20 has a few pages up as well (about half of the act). Don't expect another update before next Monday, though. Nan Desu Kan, the Colorado anime convention, is being held this weekend and I'm going to be living there! *evil laughter* Beware, yaoi doujinshi! The Phoenix cometh! (Also don't expect me to purchase more online space for the next three months or so- that's how long it will take me to get out of debt, with YaoiCon coming up next month and such...) If you're attending NDK, look for me. I'll be the short-haired blonde dressed up as "Vanilla" Gackt, Shuuichi, and a Playboy Bunny (depending on the day). Just come up and ask "Phoenix?" If that person is me, you can expect to be wildly glomped. I just love making friends! ^_^ <---estatic

Just in- Fakephoenix now is constructing a fanfiction section! If you have a fanfiction that you would care to donate (pleeaase??) visit the submission page. Any and all fics accepted!

Two other notes- first, I randomly added an About Me section last weekend while procrastinating on an lab writeup. If you just randomly want to know a little about the chaotic way my mind works, drop on by. Second, feedback on the acts is really greatly appreciated. I want to know if the scanning is up to par, if you think the translations are decent. Please, please, please leave a note in my guestbook if you have even the slightest thing to say about my work. Feedback does wonders.

Many thanks and little plushie Ryos to the people who took out time to sign my guestbook: Trish, Lady Yossarian, BPurg, Victoria, and lyra. I love you guys! ^_^ And also thanks to the people who signed up for my mailing list! It makes me happy. #^_^#

...the horror...
September 4, 2003
Guess what has finally graced the pages of Fakephoenix. The pretty part of act 19 and the entirety of the final act! View them! Both of these are untranslated (80% doesn't make complete therefore no posting) but I figured you've been waiting long enough for these suckers that it doesn't matter how you get them, just when you get them. And they're mainly visual anyway. ^_~
How do you like the new layout colors? I'd had enough complaints about "it's brown" that I decided to make it blue and settle the matter once and for all. If you have any peeves about this one tell me- I'm interested.
And now the sad news. After I post the translated versions of the final acts there will be no more Fake translations. Why? Tokyopop has taken over translating Fake into English and although they are not doing the best job they are getting paid for the time and effort they put in. I am not reimbursed and I see no point in continuing translations if they're going to be translated "professionally" anyway. My insentive is gone, so no more Fake. That doesn't mean that there will be no more translations. As soon as I get time, I will start scanlating (not translating) Kizuna, another yaoi series that has yet to be adopted by Tokyopop. Perhaps that will prove more fruitful. Any questions or comments can be sent to me.
Oh, look- a mailing list! At the bottom of the page! How did that get there? If you want to know when I update, just give it a sign, okay? I'm interested if anyone's interested. ^^

And a big thanks and glomp to Dementia, empath-chan, Mayra Iwakura, Victoria, Liz, Chihaya, Kay, Alaric, Spoons, pastfrogg, Kuramayasha17, and Yell for signing my guestbook. I'd be lost without you!
