Alas... ~By

The morning arrived and when
Lal awake, there was no one around. He tried to move but somehow
couldn’t do much. He called his protector needing his help, and most
of all wanting him near. “Keshi! Are you here? Keshi!” Quick
footsteps were heard and the door was slammed strongly. “Ah! You
scared me!”
“I’m sorry, I was outside
bringing some water. I need a bath since I didn’t take one
yesterday…you want to bathe? It may be hard, but maybe is not that
bad.”
“Where do you bathe?”
“Oh…I got a tub I made myself,
it’s pretty big so your wings won’t be hurt. Are you hungry? I got
some apples for you, do you like apples?”
“Never ate one.”
“How come? They are accessible
for you. Here!”
Lal took the fruit and bit it
gently. “It’s sweet…very good. So where’s the tub?”
“I’ll bring it now. I have to
boil the water, it’s too cold.”
“Boil? My skin will hurt!”
“You fool, I’ll mix the water
and it’ll be warm. Wait there and don’t try to stand up.”
“Ok.” Lal finished his fruit
and waited for Keshi to give him a bath. 'My pretty human would
bathe me? That is so romantic! He should bath with me!' Lal was
excited with the idea, wondering if they could bathe together, but
didn’t know what Keshi would think about it. He probably won’t like
it.
“Ok, bath is ready.” Keshi
lifted Lal’s light body in his arms carefully enough so he won’t
touch his fragile wings and placed him slowly in the nearby tub. “Is
it too hot? Too cold?”
“It’s perfect…mmm. Weren’t you
taking a bath too?”
“After you.” He placed a weird
ball on his hands and looked down at him. “Go ahead.”
“Should I eat this too?”
“No! It’s soap, I made it…I
make everything I use anyway…it is good for your skin.”
“If you say so…what’s a soap?”
“Oh my, you know nothing! Rub
it on your skin, it makes a very nice lather.” Lal begin to wash
himself and Keshi looked at him as he bathed, making sure he
wouldn’t hurt himself or maybe he just wanted to look at him?
“Bubbles! Ha, ha! I like it!”
He smiled to see how playful
and happy the little creature seemed and remembered when he first
saw him- he was also playing with the water. “You like water, don’t
you?”
“I love it! I love the sound
of the river and the wetness…don’t you?”
“I do too.” Lal kept bathing
and humming a song while he rubbed the soap on his tanned skin, then
Keshi noticed he was having trouble with his back. “You need help
with that?”
“Yes…I can’t reach my back.”
Keshi kneeled and carefully washed the small back and shoulders.
“Get in.”
“What?”
“Get in with me, it will be
fun.”
“No way!”
“Why not?”
“No space…besides, your wing
is broken and you can’t hit the walls of the tub, no.”
“Is that why? Or…is there
another reason? You think I’m making a move on you?”
“A move? What you mean?”
“You think I’m flirting with
you?”
“Flirting? What’s that?”
“You don’t know? Fine. Then
get in! I’m not flirting anyway, but the water is starting to get
cold and you will freeze.”
“Oh…well I bring more.”
“After all the hard work you
go through to get this water warm? You must be crazy to do that all
over again.”
“Well then come out already.”
“Ok. Please help me.” Keshi
pulled him on his feet and dried his soft skin carefully with a
towel, then put it around his waist. Lal watched Keshi undress and
relax inside the tub. The fairy thought he looked so beautiful- that
he wanted to touch him badly.
“Can I wash your back?”
“You should sit on the bed, no
work for you. I can do it.”
“Ok.” He obeyed and starred
without blinking even once. He didn’t want to lose one second of the
heavenly view before him.
Day after day Keshi bathed Lal
and Lal observed Keshi bathing with great desire toward the young
human. “It’s getting cold again…why is it so cold in here?”
“It’s the forest, the deeper
you get the colder it also gets.”
“My skin is very thin…maybe
that’s why I get so cold.”
“Your skin is very
delicate…I’ll make you an overcoat or something with some wool.”
“How?”
“I’ll weave it.”
“I don’t know what’s that…but
ok, just remember my wings.”
“Yes…that’s the problem.”
“Won’t you get out? It’s
cold…so early and cold.”
“Just wrap yourself with the
cover, but what do you expect, you are always naked.”
“I have no clothes…” Lal was
blushing a lot.
“Don’t worry…maybe you can
wear my pants.”
“They’re too big!”
“Ha, ha! No, I have old ones,
when I was little…I’ll give them to you.”
“Thanks.”
“No problem…they don’t fit
anyway.” Keshi came out of the tub and took Lal’s towel away to dry
himself making the little haada blush even more. “You're shy? Ha,
ha! I don’t think you are, why are you blushing?”
“’Cause…you are so pretty.”
Keshi’s smile was gone and he put the towel around his waist then
gave Lal the pants he was telling him about. “How I put them on?”
“You don’t know? I have to do
everything! You are worst than a baby!”
“I’m sorry…I didn’t mean to
bother you so much.” Lal’s eyes started to tear; he was very
sensitive. “I always bother…I’ll go!” Lal tried to stand up but
Keshi held him down.
“You are not going
anywhere…and you don’t bother me.” Keshi touched his face and washed
the tears away. “Now smile, you look cute when you smile.” Lal
couldn’t help it and smiled at him. “There you go…silly. I am
just…I’m sorry. I am a pain, not you.”
“You are not a pain.”
“You don’t have to lie…I
know.” Keshi got dressed and started to clean the place while
humming a song. “Where did I hear that song? I’ve never hummed
anything before!”
Lal giggled knowing that was
the song he was always humming. “My fault.”
“So it was you, huh? Know the
lyrics?”
“No lyrics, just music.”
“Oh…then show me the rest
because I am going crazy!”
“Ok!”
Keshi took very good care of
Lal for several weeks; he feed him, talked to him, held him, and
healed his wounds every single day. Lal discovered the sweetness
inside him, and how lovable he could be, but he also learned he
shouldn’t tell him or he would change his attitude completely. He
kept his mouth shut and just enjoyed the attention the taller man
was giving him. He was always trying to get near him, sometimes
making Keshi really uncomfortable. Every day while Keshi cooked, Lal
always stepped behind him and reclined against his back slidding his
slim arms around Keshi's waist and curling his fingers on the long
strands of hair. Lal wanted him close, but Keshi was afraid- he
always ended up panting with pain on his groin and feeling dizzy
with his closeness without knowing the real reason, but still he
liked it and waited for him to get near him.
After several weeks, Lal was
fully recovered and he knew Keshi would send him away soon. Yet he
wanted to stay with him and live together like they had till that
day. Lal dreamed for Keshi to love him in the same way he had fallen
in love with him, but had no idea that Keshi had no plans on getting
involved with anyone and didn’t even know how to treat other people
without hurting them.
“Lal I’m going to town, take
care of Kalkin while I’m gone.”
“Ok, I’ll be here when you
come back.” Lal wanted to know if he would ask him to leave since
his wing was completely healed.
“Fine. Later.” Keshi left
immediately without asking Lal to leave after he returned.
“He didn’t ask me to go!” Lal
was happy and hugged Kalkin while he smiled dreaming he may want him
to stay. “I hope he let me stay Kalkin…I love him.”
